Heard an interview on the radio news with Steve Hodge, talking about Nottinghams World Cup bid, so it has now been submitted and we await until December 16th ?, to see if we are moving grounds or not.

It's all nonsense to me. Submitting bids for an as yet hypothetical World Cup? Everything seems to have started in reverse.

I heard on Talk sport that Plymouth are very confident of being one of the host cities. Does anyone know of the number of host cities which have submitted bids and the final number of cities/grounds that will be eventually required. If it's 10 grounds then I imagine something like Wembley, Emirates, Spurs new ground, Plymouth, Villla, Liverpool somewhere, Old Trafford, Sheffield (Hillsborough?), Newcastle, (Forest,D*rby, Lester).
I left out Sunderland and Leeds because I can't see them in it along with Newcastle and Sheffield.

Whilst I am staunchly against leaving our current picturesque location on Trentside, I can't help but be astounded that the council and Forest didn't approach Stuart Pearce to be the face of Nottingham's bid. As a former England and Forest captain and someone who made his illustrious name with us, as well as being a very well respected name in the world of football, surely he would have been the perfect choice?

There is no questioning the gravitas a man of his reputation would have given to the Nottingham cause. As far as I'm concerned, it's a massive clanger on the part of the Nottingham bid team.

Christ. Aren't we supposed to leave travelling fans with a good impression of the country? It's hardly changed since Caeser landed.

They can keep it.

Costs more than it worth to see third rate countries play a couple of games.

No wonder my post count..
I hate this whole thing. Half these cities don't give two hoots about hosting the world cup, they just want an easy way to get a new stadium or a bit of extra tourism.

Pfft is what I say.

I think that there is going to be 3 stadiums in London.
Besides the two you mentioned the other one will be the Olympic stadium.

Think it was 16 that have submitted. Direby are arguing with the City Council over who is going to pay for the stadium extensions with neither having any spare money what so ever! Leicester have the strongest bid out of the East Mids as they're the only ones without unresolved issues! Nottingham City Council are in some difficulties financially and will either have to sell the land (City Ground) or sell the ground to ND. If the bid fails then ND could get the ground for around £15m - bargain!

But you wouldn't submit a bid for the World Cup and then when asked for details claim you'll sort them out if you win.

Don't we actually have to win the rights to host World Cup 2018/2022 before building a new stadium?! :D Though I suppose it's quite likely we'll get one of them.

I'm not sure of Nottingham's chances of hosting games. I'm not even sure any of the East Midlands cities have a chance... the Walkers is so poorly situated (ie not near transport links and lack of facilities in the surrounding area) and Derby is just a f***ing dump.

I can see there being games at Sunderland and Newcastle, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and probably Bristol, MK, Leeds.

Emirates Stadium

Wembley

Those 4 stadiums are part of the bid, that doesn't mean all 4 will be used at the World Cup, though.

If we get the World Cup, it'll be Wembley +1.

Liverpool's bid contains 3 stadiums; Anfield, New Liverpool, New Everton. Only one will be used.

Isn't Sheffield also in a similar situation? United and Wednesday. So too is Manchester with both United and City. Maybe Birmingham.

I think you can only use a maximum of two stadiums in one city and only one city is allowed to do this.

It will be Wembley and likely the new Spurs one, if more impressive than the Emirates Stadium.

As for Nottingham, as much as I don't want to move stadium (I think it should not be considered until we're an established Premiership club) I think we will be a host city so I've got my fingers crossed 2018 goes to Russia so it doesn't come off.

You like us really ..despite you being full of prejudicial crap... the Walkers is Leicester city centre .. Leicester fuses with the M1 and is pretty easy to get to , being quite in the centre of England  Pride Park ofcourse is not a dump, but you have your agenda  , moving on, why should London get four stadia ?

Father of untold number of lambs, If I had a choice between Leicester and Derby to be nuked, I cannot seriously think of any reason why I would wish to spare that terrible pile of poo Leicester compared to Derby. Even prideless park beats the crisp bowl for atmosphere.

I'm guessing you've not been to the Walkers Stadium because, having lived in Leicester City Centre for 2 years, I can assure you it is not there :D It's about a 20 minute walk from the city centre, and the train and bus stations. Getting to the Walkers from the M1 can take forever, the traffic is usually horrendous around that area.

Plymouth is a lovely place.

Of course it has it's bad places, much like Nottingham and any other city, but it also has some lovely places.

Difference is, though, Nottingham has trams and are talking about extending them to any new ground.

Away from the ins and outs of a new stadium, though, I believe there are 15 final submissions - Nottingham, Leicester, Derby, Bristol, Liverpool, Birmingham, Sheffield, Manchester, Plymouth, Newcastle/Gateshead, Sunderland, Leeds, Hull, Milton Keynes and London.

Of those, it is being widely reported that 'about ten' will be chosen.

I'd imagine we'll have 12 stadiums for the tournament as well, so make of that what you will. It could be ten cities and London has three stadiums, or it could be 11 cities with London getting two.

I think thankfully the County Council has done us a favour. Not only have they rejected our bid but also publicly said that they are going to make it as difficult as possible.

So I guess moving grounds is off the cards for now. Until a few years time when we decide to move again.
