Kelvin Wilson came through the first 45 minutes of his comeback without problems at The City Ground this afternoon.

The Nottingham Forest defender, who has been nursing an ankle injury sustained in pre-season against Notts County, played the first half of a behind-closed-doors friendly with Watford.

And afterwards he said: "I felt a little bit rusty but that is only to be expected after being out for a while. It was just nice to get back on a football field and play again.

"Hopefully, I can get another game behind me next week and if I come through that OK hopefully I can put myself back into contention.

"It's been very frustrating being out of action, particularly at the start of the season. But the lads are doing well and I just want to get back to being part of it again."

Watford won the game 2-0.

Would not of been too sad to see Wilson go at the end of last season but beggers can't be choosers so i'm willing to give him a chance.

Didn't Wilson start at Notts County as a left back but said he wanted to play centre back?

Either way I'd expect him to be much better there than Cohen.

It can only be a good thing to get some defenders back, especially with a packed fixture list coming up after the international break.

Perhaps the Blackburn game on the 22nd would be the best one to bring him back into? I think 3 weeks is realistic given the fact that he has just come through 45 minutes.

Who did he play right back against? With him being left footed and having played left back before I'd expect him to be used there rather than Gunter.

Which ever combination we use we still need some cover..if Morgan and Chambers get injured or suspended at the same time all you are left with is Wilson or Lynch...

Who knows!! While Wilson isn't the best player on the Forest bench, it is good to have a bit of cover coming back. I can't see him replacing Chambo at CB at all, and while we don't have a fit LB it'll be business as usual with Cohen filling in there. Wilson will return to replace Mitchell on the bench
