Will we struggle next season with no new signings?

Will we struggle with no new signings as we only have
-Three fully fit strikers
-Three wingers
-One unfit left back (Bennet)
 
The mismanagement at Forest is quite staggering.
1. James Perch sold and not replaced. 2. Paul Smith our experienced 2nd choice keeper transfer listed without a replacement.
3. Joe Garner (one of the most promising strikers at the club) allowed out on a 6 month loan without a replacement, when 2 other strikers are injured.
4. Still no left back after 2 & half years!
5. No new signings during a long closed season.
6. No communication from the club to the fans or the press about the possible investment & why there hasn't been any strengthening of the club.
Now, before you start, that is not moaning it is a statement of the facts of what has happened since we finished 3rd & lost in the play offs.
Forest are weaker and have an even smaller squad than the inadequately paper thin one we had at the end of last season; and there is only 7 days to our 1st game.
Can somebody at Forest or NEP let us no what the hell is going on and what is going to be done about this ludicrous situation!

This I am disappointed with. Only a blind, ranting Scotsman could not agree he's a real talent, and a huge asset to Nigel Doughty.
 
On paper we may we be weaker but people should look at the actual contribution the outgoing players made last season. Perch was bloody awful in pretty much every game he played, he cost us the game at Pride Park and far more importantly the semi-final. I would say that him leaving us actually strengthens us as he was utter shit and a complete liabilty.

I am a Garner fan but he didn't play much last season so therefore didn't really contribute to our surge up the table. And Smith (assuming he leaves) was sat on the bench so didn't contribute. So we haven't lost anyone who made meaningful contributions to the side so axtually we are not any weaker.
 
The most worrying aspect for me is that injuries to Dex and Earnie will leave us with a second rate strikeforce of Tyson + Adebola. Otherwise I am equally dumbfounded by the loaning out of Garner and our inability to find a decent left back in the last 8 months.

The squad, as it is now, will struggle to finish in the top 6, epecially if we get injuries as there are a lot of decent, if not great sides in the CCC this year.

I am still hoping, perhaps in vein, that we will see 1 or 2 come in next week.
 
At the moment I think we will struggle to finish top half of the table.

We are a little weaker than the end of last season and our form was bang-average (post-Shorey) a full season of that form would put us on 55-58 points. At least at the end of the season we had a relatively fit side and only gaping hole was left-back... now we still have no left-back and fitness concerns to morgan, mckenna, ando, mcgoldrick et al

Sides will set up knowing how vulnerable our left-back slot is as well the prospect of not having our first choice centre back pairing (and I'm blocking the thought that wilson could go to celtic!) Worst case scenario is a defence on the first day of Gunter-Chambers-Lynch/Bennett-Cohen!!

If we don't sign a few players I will be speechless, imagine if WBA has missed on promotion they would have 3-4 players in by now - I just can't being to think what ND/MA must be thinking conducting summer signings like this when we have one of the best opportunities we have had in a decade to return to the premier league.

I genuinely believe that the signings of Shorey and Whittingham alone would change our season! Pratley, a striker and a sub LB would let us have a strong squad... right now I can see us close to the bottom after the first two months of the season and struggling our way to 12th-15th at the end of the season - at this point momentum will be gone, we will be less appealing for players to come to us and players like Gunter/Earnie/Cohen will want out!

wow, pessimistic post but I can just see this hapening!

They still played in about 50 games between them. Whether it was a good or bad contribution, its still pretty significant and those spaces need filling.

I was thinking along the same lines, that they werent really important, but then looking at how many games both played- you have to think theres no real alternatives.

It'll be interesting to see how they are replaced, and whether academy players are used in thier positions of cover.

Overall I dont think we'll struggle, just flirt with the play offs and tiredness will kill off our challenge towards the end of the season.

Very dissapointing i'm sure he will score 10+ goals for them aswell until january, this was obvously a BD decision

That still baffles me, he was the only striker with raw talent. Hopefully we won't sell him in January as I think it's got marlin king written all over it :(

Alright now lets look at the positives....Cohen, Gunter, Majewski, Dex, Anderson, Mckenna, Camp, Earnie, Wes....All very good Championship players and going nowhere...Garner-most definitely a bad decision...but if we were to have a chance- this season is as good as any with shit Pompy, shit Hull, and over-rated Burnley coming down...If you'd asked me last year who'd finish first and second 09/10 I'd have said Newcastle and West Brom everytime...This year it's wide open, so lets get behind the team and exploit that fact!

Bizzarely, when asked about this at the audience with, he didnt give a straight answer but hinted that it was a board decision- not his.

I think there were 10 other players on the pitch not playing well. Footballs a team game you know.
 
I think the loan of Garner is a good thing as long as he doesn't get injured. I love this guy and couldn't wait to tell one of the guys in the office that is a town fan how good this guy his. He came on a hand full of time last season and without dought he should be in the starting 11 for Huddersfield which can only help his confidence, match fittness and our options when his loan deal is up.

If he's on form when his loan deal ends and we need extra cover and call him back I'm sure it's going to be much better to have a player that's been getting the games than one that's been sat on the bench.

As for Perch going this to me was good business and if Smith is to go then that's no big deal either. Camp to me is a far better all round goalkeeper. Smith is a great shoot stopper but other than that I use to hold my breath every time the ball was crossed in.
