Will we ever have an easy season?

You can't say it's ever boring supporting forest, when was the last time we had a mid table finish? I think a lot of us were thinking this year might be the first in a very long time, well turns out that's not the case, I'm not complaining it does make life interesting.

I was kind of looking forward to not having to look out for other teams results and just seeing us do well and finish in a decent position. Still, i would rather be 2nd!

Thats one of the great things about being a Forest supporter, were a team of extremes.

From the heights of the european cup wins to regular league cup wins and fa cup final appearances in the late eighties and early nineties to the despair of being relegated and then the euphoria of finishing third in the prem after being promoted!

From desperate times in league one to playing some of the best football in the country and being on the verge of a possible return to the promised land.

Don't think theres another team quite like us and thats why were all filled with so much excitment at the possibilities that might lay ahead.

Its never dull that's for sure!

This is an easy season.

Non of us really, seriously believed we'd be where we are now.

We're safe from relegation and it's not even the end of January!

We've made great strides forwards, we're playing great football.

We can relax and enjoy the ride, because every point from here on in is a bonus!

I'd sooner be like this than looking over my shoulder like last year.

I couldn't agree more. The vast majority of Forest fans were hoping for a top half finish this season and to keep well clear of a relegation battle. We've pretty much secured the fifty points needed to avoid relegation and it's looking as though we'll end the season in the play-offs at the very least.

Yeah but the point is come the last day of the season (or last few games) chances are we are going to be getting very nervous or very excited.

One thing I am concerned about and I did raise this with John Mcgovern during the Clough Aid evening. What happens if we end up like a Charlton or Bolton in the premiership? Not actually achieving anything but surviving mid table with the odd excitement of a cup run?. At least with the lower league you have something to aim for, I am afraid that in the fullness of time we may stagnate.

I dunno, if we fail to go up this season there's a fair chance we'll be pushing for promotion again next season (that was the original plan after all). Although if we go up and we do finish mid table that will be lovely.

I also agree on the whole thing about not wanting to be a mid table top tier team forever (or the foreseeable), I also suspect that the financial state of football is going to change things fairly dramatically over the next 5-10 years so you never know what'll happen.

Here's our league history, not many mid tables in there. 2003/04 in Div 1 is actually the most recent which isn't that long ago.

It was only a late run of brilliant form that kept us from finishing much, much lower that season though. We were in a relegation fight for the vast majority of that season.

I did, I've even got a bet on us to win the league to prove it.

Then again, I am more positive and optimistic than most fans.

Yeah , this season can be considered an easy season. No relegation worries , if we go up , we go up. If we don't , we'll try again next season. Life is bliss.

Is there such a thing as an easy season?

If you're mid-table at Christmas, you think about a play off place until it's mathematically impossible, or staying up.

This is an easy season....if one exists.

As did I!

I got a pretty sweet 28-1 and I also got similar from victor chandler a couple of weeks later. If we win the league then I get my free prem season ticket and about £1200 back.

Steven Taylor is possibly out for the season and I live very close to him but I assure you there is no connection.

There is no such thing as an easy season when the season is in progress; you are always looking for the possibilities and the dangers. Keeps the adrenalin going and that's why we stay involved.

Easy seasons only exist in hindsight!

This is an easy season now - we have enough points to stay up. Sorted!

I'd say it was only not easy if you're fighting the drop down the arse end of the table, anything else is surely easy? Although being in League 1 a club our size was never easy.

I sort of agree but it's hard not to get lost in the expectation now. Hypothetically, if we were 2nd going into Scunthorpe away and found ourselves needing a goal with 4 minutes of stoppage time on the clock or something ridiculous, it wouldn't feel like an easy season. Though personally I would enjoy the play-offs if that is where we finished, as I would expect little and take anything as a bonus (especially a trip to Wembley, shit a stadium as it is).
