Will there be a big name transfer in the next week or so ?

The marketing campaign has been done very well this summer, perfect for maximising season ticket sales. The only thing that could offer the final boost now, after the VC deal starts to wear off, is a last couple of signings and with a big name one too.

This might be the final straw for some people and will drive them to take up the VC offer/finally buy a season ticket.

Could it be a big name loan signing ? (very possible as Premiersship squads getting finalised and managers know who they can afford to loan out to cut down wage bill/get them first team football).

Or a big name signing ? (less likely I think as a loan is more probable for this season with a view to sign next season. Also I think after Lennon and Cole that ND and MA would be more into loan than signing for any big name player).

So the question is, if there is to be a big name loan signing from a Premier League club, and its only just speculation, then who would you want it to be based on realistic targets who might do a 1 year loan to a Championship club.

I would think, if it were to happen, it might be a centre back, as then the Donny chairman can be told to "FO".

By 'the marketing campaign' , do you mean the players we have actually brought into the club? A 'marketing campaign' is something which promotes an image, not real improvements.

I don't think we need to sign anyone else. if we do, it will be a defender like Sol Campbell.

The signings will have been engineered into a pattern. Couple of initials and you get all the normal people renewing their season ticket. Wait for them all to be done and then more signings. Then more signings. Then a deal from VC. And then the final push for the last few season ticket sales. Any last push will need a big name loan signing.

Sol Campbell..........could be?

Not only a long name but a real big name signing, he is about 55 now but could still have a few tricks up his sleeve.

If only a couple of fans paid to have that on the back of their shirts then it would pay for all the ofher transfers put together.

I think I Am not alone in saying that we don't need a geriatric show piece this season.

And, of course, as a qualified Doctor, he'd come in handy the next time we have one of our inevitable injury crises.

Still smokes 20-a-day too, and turned out a couple of years ago in a friendly for Garforth Town, so his match-fitness might be a bit suspect.
