Just heard some gossip that we are trying to sign Wilfred Bouma on loan from Villa for a month. No fancy inside sources or anything. Just a mate but as it's not on here I thought I'd post it.

He's a Dutch international left back and Premiership quality but he has been injured for about 18 months. He's now recovered and is playing in Villa reserves.

He also said Isaiah Osbourne has been made available for another loan until the end of the season. No idea if we are interested though but could be good cover for Mckenna.
 
Would be good if he can prove himself to be patch fit. Last player we had on loan after a long lay off was nowhere near match fit (McSheffry) and of no use to us.

This was on football rumours last week BTW.
 
The injury that Mcsheffrey has is one that never goes away. Same as Owen Hargreves.

Bouma had a dislocated ankle and from reading about it it seems he came back too early and it happend again. I think he would be fit and if not it's only a short term loan, not a big money signing.
 
Wilfred Bouma liked the pies when he was active, god only knows the state he got into when injured.
 
I thought he was quite a good player. Would certainly strengthen the squad up, even if he only played a few games
 
Why would Villa, who already have a pretty small squad, ship out both Shorey and Bouma?

Doesn't add up to me so therefore, I'm thinking it unlikely.

Unless he's really struggling to regain match fitness - in which case I wouldn't want him anyway!
 
Who else do Villa have in their squad to cover Warnock? Can't see this one happening even though it would be fantastic!
 
This would be just as good if not better than Nicky Shorey if he plays to his full potential!

My Villa colleague said exactly that. He reckons if we'd strike out a 24hr-recall type deal, things might work out.
 
Plug all the way! Although in Perch we have a let back that already looks like him.
 
Heard today that we've asked about him, at least.

Davies and MON are on good terms despite the Shorey deal not happening and I heard that King Billy has enquired about what players they have available, including Bouma.

What the guy at my magazine told me was that they want Bouma to be playing competitive football rather than just reserve games so he's fit for pre-season and ready for the Villa first-team next season.

Sounds promising but it would be a gamble due to his lack of match fitness. We really need someone to hit the ground running.

Still, it is good to be linked with quality players again.

He has pretty good links with Villa's inside workings. :hey:

Did an interview with Ashley Young a while back and keeps in touch with the people at the club.

BD was present at Villa reserve game a couple of weeks ago so may have been checking him and others out.Comment in NEP today about Perch not getting too comfy at left back so..........................
 
I thought I read an edition where they took his jumper off and exposed him?
