Why is nothing happening

I know it's early days, but surely we should be seeing more roumers nocking about in the papers/online by now. Why is it Forest always leave deals to the last minute, by which time one of the big guns comes and swallows up the deal.

Danny Fox - Celtic
Matt Mills - Reading
Moses
Shorey
Pratley - Looks to be Celtic

We signed 7 players last summer. The first one didn't get announced till 28th June.
Why are you worried? This isn't Championship Manager.

the club always like to conduct business behind closed doors. Chill out enjoy the world cup and see what happens once its over.

You don't see much going off at Man U, Chelski & Arsenal at the mo because their targets are all busy at the mo and so are ours

Jeeez, we will not be making 7 signings again, calm down, how many other clubs are rife with speculation? The players we ARE rumoured to be in for are class players, the club is doing business behind closed doors and it is early days yer, the blackstock deal was one of the first done last year and yet it was announced right at the end, we even saw him training and playing friendlies with QPR.

D*rby are doing their business early, and non/lower league players are the reward. We'll bide our time, and sign class.

Just to join in the torrent of abuse, early June is hardly the last minute considering the transfer deadline is in September. :nowink:

Danny Fox - Celtic - we reportedly offered more than Celtic but they could offer European football and perhaps Coventry didn't want to sell him to a rival championship club.
Matt Mills - Reading - likewise their chairman wanted more money than we offered (about £2M) then accepted the same fee from Reading. Mills was from that neck of the woods and probably preferred going there.
Moses the receivers were always going to hold out for the highest bidder - in the end that was a premier league team so no surprise.
Shorey - has been reported as saying he was looking forward to going back to Forest when Fulham came in at the last minute - premier league and an outside chance of making the world cup = no contest.
Pratley - Looks to be Celtic - Swansea were unlikely to sell him to promotion rivals mid season with out paying silly money

There's always a story behind the failures though.

The lack of specualtion is down to the NEP not having any journalists.

They haven't had a proper Forest story since then season finished. THey've either recycled old news or C+P'd from another source.

There will be very little done publicly at the moment; most people in football are either on holiday, or watching the World Cup.

The club may - or may not - have some signings done already, or agreement in principle for new players.

Forest always play it very close to their chests, and there will be little or no gossip forthcoming.

Speculation, yes. Hard facts, no.

The club have their list of targets, and the "AP" will be working on those. Bear in mind that David Pleat is at the World Cup, and certainly as mentioned above, others will be there or holidaying.

Chill out, all will be well!

Didn`t we technically make the first signing before anyother team when we got Maj sorted? :)

Where have you been?

All of these players had connections with us last season - Fox & Moses only moved to their new clubs in January - Mills only joined Reading in August, so why would they come to us now?

If you're going to stick a list of players up who you think we should be looking at or who we should be trying sign at least be original.

Danny Fox: - Not at Celtic - Signed for Burnley 29-01-2010 lol

Matt Mills: - Not everyones cup of tea since all the hype and the shambles of last season - Is he back on the market? :nowink:

Moses: Signed for Wigan 01-02-2010 lol

Shorey: :console: Good call but we are still in the Championship and we still can't afford him - If it ever came off I would be extatic - but it won't.

Pratley: Again; another good call but the longer this one rumbles on the more I fear it will finish up like the Matt Mills saga of last summer.

I believe he was citing them as examples of where we've missed out on a player, because we didn't get our arses in gear and offer them £100m salaries, their own private yachts and Doughty's wife to perform sex acts on them. So they chose to wait for better offers.

Just shows the lack of ambition at this club. Awful. I'm off to support Notts....

Maybe as the Football season has just ended, players do have a life and go on Holiday and like a month as we do to get over the season.

eh? you haven't read, my post properly.

i'm not saying we should have signed 8 players by now. what I am saying is i'm suprised there isn't a bit more smoke in the press by now, especially after we have lost out on some big targets by leaving things to last minute in previous seasons.
