Depends which end you look at it from.

£400k for Lee Croft out of contract in the summer is a very good bid in my eyes.

£600k doesn't seem bad for Jones although I haven't seen that much of him to fully judge.

The rest we don't know what amounts were offered, the above two are open to a certain amount of speculation as they are only media reports. The selling clubs may not think the bids are acceptable but they are not derisory.

People are very quick to call our bids 'derisory' but as pointed out above - Most of the time it isn't the case.

400k for someone out of contract is a fantastic offer and had we bid anymore, I for one, would have been a bit pissed off.

600k for a guy who has only even proven himself north of the border, for someone outside the big two and isn't exactly a spring chicken is also far from derisory.

lets be honest we could be winning by then with a almost full strength squad back and be 6 points above the drop zone with the hardest fixtures out the way, so most people would not be woried if no signings had been made by this point as we would be on our way to safety, howeve if we are still where we are now and have picked up yet more injurys then forest will conduct so token loans signings in the last week of the window.

we all know how the club works so I reckon we should sit back and wait for the last week of the window and see what happens

i dont want to wait for the last week of the loan windown......we did that in the normal transfer window, and look what happened....NOTHING.

The point is if we were to go down, and not tried to do anything about it, by getting anybody in, that makes us look stupid and id be disgusted. We all know the original plans for the transfer window changed and were scuppered by the change of manager, but they should have considered that when making the change, after all any new manager coming in at that stage, would just have the same players to work with (if they werent able to sign anybody). Given that managers are judged on their signings, it would be unfair and impossible really to blame Billy if we were to go down, given that his hands have been tied by marthur and doughty, and he'd been unable to stamp any of his authority on the team by getting his players in.

Consider a club like Man City coming in to buy one of your players.

You know that City are ABSOLUTELY loaded with cash, so all you do is either:
Put a ridiculously high price tag on your player, or;
Listen to any offer they make and then laugh at them (regardless...cos they can afford more)...

We are told now that Forest's finances are better and stronger than most other clubs in our position.
Perhaps, relatively speaking, we are the Man City of the CocaCola Championship.

Whoever we approach knows that we CAN afford more if we REALLY want the player..

Yes, results....but what im saying is ultimately this current crop of players isnt HIS team (ie one that hes built with players he's bought/developed), although he is the Forest manager - this is still Calderwood's team, so therefore we cant really JUDGE Billy on his achievements here, until he's had some opportunity to bring in his own players.

Thats why people say managers are judged on their signings (as well as results ::))

Once known as Nick.Doyle.nffc on 'ere.
The only good thing is that least Doughty is trying to spend wisely, As he doesn't want to spend mass amount on one player, which is pretty sensible. As it shows we don't want to spend over the odds.

We have signed someone. We signed Mr Invisible from Marvel comics. Just because you haven't seen him doesn't mean he isn't there.
