The team that started last season away at Reading-

Camp
Gunter Wes Chambers Lynch

Cohen Raddy Mckenna Garner

Mcgoldrick Adebola

Team likely to start away at Burnely-

Camp

Gunter Wilson Chambers Cohen

Mckenna Moose

McCleary Majewski Ando/Tyson

Blackstock

Whether its that or drop Moussi and play Earnie up front with Dex, I think its definatly alot stronger team than the one that started at Reading last year.

I'm just as frustrated as anybody on here with the lack of transfers but surely we will strengthen by the time the transfer window closes, but until then lets make do with what we've got.

I think/hope Camp will be fit and even Wes might be fit enough to start instead of Chambers by then, come on guys stop being negative and look at how strong our team is with the players we have got, easily top 6 in my opinion!

Come on, lets get behind the players we have and see what happens.:tysonflag2:

I'd go for:
Camp
Gunter Wilson Morgan Cohen
Anderson Majewski McKenna Tyson/McCleary
Earnshaw Blackstock

I think we should start playing Earnie away from home again. Yeah last season he did score more at home, but how many did he start away from home?

Camp will defo be fit, otherwise he wouldn't of played against Swindon, but as for Morgan I do assume/hope he'll play too.

I agree with the top 6 comment. But with a couple of qualitee signings and we can get automatic!

If and i mean a big IF we do have a team capable of playoffs at the min, then it shows a massive lack of ambition by the club, (again) in not signing one or two quality players and genuinely challenging for auto.
"If" the powers that be thought for one moment they were in with a sterling chance of the prem, surely then they would try just a little harder to to get that left back we have been so glaringly missing for the last 2 years?

That is what the puzzling thing is little people, its just criminal not get a left back in, the rest of the team you can bodge over, but why o why cant we have a left back.
No manager worth his salt would not sign cover in that pos, including billy, so why do we not have one????????????????

Earnshaw will start... At the Approach on Tuesday, Billy said to back him for first scorer at Burnley as he was looking very sharp

Arent a few of them injured? Like ando/moose/mckenna/dexter etc.

If so, we'll be starting with a similar team that lost yesterday.

Hopefully thier injuries will have cleared up though.

swap Pratley for mckenna and a half decent finisher for blackstock, and then we would talking......................

So essentially our defence would be wide open as we would have two forward thinking players in central midfield. Pratley essentially played as a second forward towards the end of last season for Swansea.

iM SURE WE WOULD COPE, from what i have seen of pratley, hes more than capable of showing up in his own half from time to time.

Because our squad was bloody thin last season and its got even thinner since last season ended (Perch, Garner and Boyd all gone)

We also have a number of injuries, we know McGoldrick is out for at least another 2 months. What about Morgan? Lynch? Anderson? McKenna? Tyson? Blackstock? who all missed yesterdays game at Swindon.

We have a 23 man squad (according to the squad numbers that have been given out). You need 18 players in a match day squad.

Smith has been told he can go.
Darlow has never played a first team game
Then you have all the players who have various injuries named above.
Bennett hasn't played since Boxing Day 2008 and Billy said he needs to go out on loan.
He also said Moloney and Thornhill need to go out on loan.

If everyone is fit and on form we could put a bloody good side out but our depth beyond that is a bloody joke.

We NEVER win with Earnie in the team away from home. He`s a curse!

Just been watching old videos of highlights and player interviews on the OS, and I have to say after the end of last season I'd started to forget just how good our season was. So many good times, tough encounters where we barely scrapped a win or a draw... but yet so much excitement either way you look at it.

This has got me looking forward to this season sooo much. I know everyone is getting a bit worried and skeptical that we haven't signed anybody, but we still have the starting 11 of last season and they have now all been playing together for a full year through a pretty tough season, so this has got to be a positive that they must all know each other better by now.

Not sure if we're gonna get the result we want away to Burnley, but still...Can't wait for this season to get underway....

Is it just me who thinks we don't really need Pratley, I can't see where he would slot into the squad if we signed a leftback and a left winger?

Camp

Gunter/Maloney Wilson/Chambers Morgan/Bennet Lynch/New LB

Anderson/McCleary Magic/Mugugan Moussi/Mckenna/Thornhill Cohen/Goldie New Winger/Tyson/Anderson

Earnshaw/Adebola/Blackstock/Goldie/Tyson

With Cohen able to play box to box/ more forward/ able to sit or even on either wing (rather not) Magic likely to keep improving (with enough cover to fill in for him if Mugugan could be arsed and Goldie shows his promise) and Moussi and Mckenna being our guaranteed sitters (Thornhill hopefully pushing somewhere) he wont fit into a 4-5-1 formation or a 4-4-2.

Wittingham would be nice and could slot straight into the squad but is Pratley really any better than what we have in the middle.

By the looks of it a new LB and CB are priority with another striker and left mid as a bonus is what we need.

To be honest I think Lynch and Bennett would be the other way around seeing as Bennett IS a LB and Davies has said he wants Lynch to learn to become a CB.

Also I think Pratley would be very good cover for McKenna (or used in rotation possibly) as McKenna is starting to show his age a bit, and when he finally does need to be replaced it would be a lot better to already have the player, who is going to be linking up all the players on the pitch, to already know his team mates inside out rather than bringing in a stranger to be right in the middle of the team !

I can understand why you say that and up to a point I agree but when we lost McKenna last season we fell to bits, add to that Cohen is often shunted about be it wide or at left back. Moussi tends to have his injury problems, McGugan simply looks like he can't be arsed and Thornhill isn't good enough in my view.

Looking back the reason we lost to Blackpool is they were so much better in midfield than us. I accept McKenna wasn't fit, Cohen had just returned from mumps and Moussi didn't play at all but doesn't that just prove the point a bit?

I suspect what Billy wants to do is play a similair formation to the one Blackpool used against us..........

Camp

Gunter, Morgan, Wilson, Shorey

Anderson, Pratley, McKenna(c), Cohen, Whittingham

Blackstock

With Anderson and Whittingham really pushing on to support Blackstock, so more a 433 with the ball and 451 without.

Now that is a team I would love to see play. But I assume you mean away from home right? coz it wouldn't make much sense to exclude last season's top goalscorer from the starting line-up... surely !?

Yes away from home mainly as at home I'd expect 442 with Earnie up top alongside Blackstock.

To be honest neither Bennet or Lynch are left backs...they're both CB by trade. Moussi is supposed to be cover for Mckenna and so we already have the replacement with us.

Theres a distinct lack of Magic in that midfield...Raddy would play well ahead of Pratley for me.

McCleary seemed to be quite far forward/central on the Swindon highlights. Not sure if he had drifted in from the left or not. Unusual though.

Cohen also looked to be having a lot of trouble at LB. I really wouldn't play him there. Surely Chambers is more capable, as he knows how to defend properly, having played full back quite a lot. Would also rather have Lynch or Bennett at LB ahead of Cohen if they are fit and able to play.
