Who we have so far

Ok, I know you probably aren't going to believe me on any of this, as most of you never do, but this has come from someone who works at the club, who is friends with my dad. If you don't believe me, take it up with him.

Anyway, this is who we have apparently got so far.

Shorey - Aston Villa
Charlie Austin - Swindon Town

Heres a strange one for you though, which is where I'm going to say you probably won't believe me. I don't know if this is true, just taking this as it comes from this guy. So he could by lying about all of this, but he isn't a lying type to be fair on the guy.

Whittingham - Cardiff, Swap deal Earnshaw

I know you now probably think Im lying, but its just what I have been told by my Dad who spoke to this guy today.

If true, id be happy. People will cry about loosing Earnshaw but hes not getting any younger and if he goes to Cardiff its because he loves the club, and we would have Garner and Austin (again if your correct) to fill in for him and ive said this since we signed Garner give him the games hell get us 15+ a season hes a natural goalscorer and hes young. Add Shorey to Whittingham and Austin and were promoted, easily.

This has to be BS. There is no way all reps of Forest, Cardiff, Swindon and Villa are all sworn to keep shtum, yet with respect, your Dad's been told this? You facking sure?

It better be BS.. Earnshaw's been our top goalscorer for two seasons in a row. If we lose him, we're f**ked!

wouldnt say we where f**ked, but we would require a lower prem/top championship striker to replace him if we are to build on next season and not unproven youngsters from the lower leagues, they are luxury players you can afford to gamble on when you have the insuarnce of earnshaw in the side.

It would make perfectly good sense to keep quiet about signings, especially if the other club is getting rid of someone who is a fans' favourite. Selling him before season tickets are on general sale would lose them lots of money. Shorey is not a 1st choice at Villa, but Austin is at Swindon. It also makes sense for Forest not to announce all their signings at once. Don't let's get greedy for news yet. Give it time - some big signings will give our season ticket sales a huge boost. It's easy to keep it quiet - Billy does most of his negotiating away from the CG because he doesn't trust some of the back-room staff. There is no reason for anyone to say anything yet, but I honestly think some of the rumours will not be too far away from the mark.

That would make sense bringing in austin and swapping earnshaw but this "apparently my dad said" and whatavya has been said so many many many times! So far from all the "inside" men on all the forums I've read, we have Pratley, Shorey, Whittingham, Grant, Austin and Dorman.

this would be brilliant but i doubt it

i dont get why everyone loves earnshaw.

he only plays home games and is getting on now anyway

charlie austin is absolute class and is only 20

potentially

shorey 1 million
pratley 1.5 million
earnshaw whittingham swap
austin 1 million

£3.5 - £4 million on 4 class players. would be a great bit of business

If Earnshaw was to go I'd expect to see Garner play up from alot more...

Add to your in list that Norwegian kid we're after and we could be in business :)

I'd be concerned if we lost Earnshaw.

All these easy goals he scores at home, why don't other players score them? Earnie was a massive part of what kept us in the division the season before last and his fox-in-the-box strikes, not to mention his free kicks, were a major facet of our home form last time out.

Only Chopra falls into his bracket as a proven goalscorer in this division.

Joe Garner is a great talent but has scored less than 10 goals in the CCC. Charlie Austin looks to be a great talent but he has had a good six months in the tier below, he is as proven as Simon Cox who has taken time to settle at West Brom.

It would not be fair to expect either of them to deliver the goals that Earnie does, at least not immediately.

I take the point that Earnshaw didn't score many away from home, but for the second half of the season our entire squad struggled on the road. Are we to ditch all of them as well? Earnie, when played away, struggled as much as everyone else.

Furthermore, Earnshaw is one of the most experienced players in a young squad. He's a good pro and seems settled here. I understand Cardiff has a place in his heart, but I don't expect he would demand to leave.

These are just rumours and I think they're driven by Cardiff fans hoping to patch up the likely exit of Michael Chopra.

I would be beyond gutted if we lost Earnie. His goals have been one of the most important factors in a) avoiding relegation a couple of seasons back, and b) getting to third in the league.

Earnie is proven at this level, and has shown time and again that if he has a decent amount of games in a season, he'll get you a pretty much guaranteed 15 goals. Can this be said for most other strikers in this division? No it can't.

Earnshaw is 29, he still has about 5 years left in him.. Austin isn't absolute class, he's had one good season at Swindon Town - that doesn't make him better than Robbie Earnshaw who's had years and years of good seasons in the Championship. Austin may turn out to be a good player in a few years but just remember what club he was at this time last year: Poole Town.

And as for that team; you have players playing out of their position, thank f*** you're not manager.

I cannot see Earnshaw moving TBH, I think he is enjoying playing for Forest and seems to like Nottingham and I don't think Cardiff would want to swap Whittingham for him.

I hope you are right about Shorey though, if Forest can land this guy they will have the best full-backs in the league. Add this to a quality left winger and Forest will become one of the stronger teams in the league and possibly the team to beat next year.

and being suspended for a vast majority of it due to poor temperment

He hasn't played much due to not being selected. I can only recall him being suspended once since he's been here?

Garner proved toward the end of this season that if you play him up top, he'll score. Even away from home.

That said, I'd be gutted if we lost Earnie.

I seem to remember Earnie being about the only player who turned up for us against Blackpoo, that says a lot about him ...

I wouldn't be too resigned to losing Earnie provided we bolstered the midfield and defence with the likes of Shorey, Pratley, Whittingham etc.

He's a great player and I love him to pieces, but I can't see him starting if we get to the Premership (which should be our aim this season) and he isn't getting any younger.

If we can cash in or straight swap for PW then it may be good business.

Why? isn't there other goalscorers in England? I remember being gutted when Birtles left but I think we've had plenty of players since then that have scored a goal or two.
Earnshaw (for whatever reason) only plays in half the matches anyway. A swop with Whittingham would be good. IMO.
