the marketplace is fairly close to the railway station (cut through the shopping centre, exit by the doors next to Burger King or (Boots?) and turn left on the pedestrian street. Straight on at the 'cross road' then follow the road up and the market place is about a 2 or 3 min walk).

There's a Weatherspoons there called the Red Lion could be worth a shout?

That is a horrific pub, there is a better wetherspoons a little futher away.

Come out of the train station turn left and walk into the bus station which leads to the shopping center. At the top of the escalator turn left walk straight on, follow it round to the left then go down the escalator. Walk straight on till you leave the shopping center and turn right, then about 30 yards on turn left at TJ Hughes follow that road up and you will come to Walkabout, where wetherspoons is just behind also.

Possibly a slightly better option could be the Old Angel.

Last time I was in Donny this was a Yates but Wetherspoons have taken it over, given it a bit of a tidy up and reopened it as a Lloyds bar (Wetherspoons prices and drinks but music and possibly Sky Sports)

To get to this one you come out the shopping centre by the doors next to Burger King. Walk up the side of T G Hughs, just past Walkabout follow the road round to the left and you'll see the Angel on your left hand side

looks like Dyl got there 1st lol

Take it that was the one you were on about or were you on about the one at the other end of the pedestrian st that Walkabouts on?

Thought about that one 1st but its right next to the Donny Rovers club shop so thought that might be more of a home pub

small word of warning for anyone travelling up by coach...

last year the police rounded up every coach as it came off the motorway and stacked them all on the roundabout untill all were accounted for. Some coaches were stuck there for 2-3 hours and the passengers weren't even allowed off for a smoke!
The coppers even managed to get hold of the coach run by Gedling branch of the SC who had stopped off in Bawtry for a few beers and would have to have been escorted past the ground to get to the holding area.

If they pull the same trick this year and your on the buses I wouldn't make any plans to meet anyone in town as you'll be lucky to have enough time to get a pint in the ground let alone anywhere else

I was on about the one near the Rovers shop Andy, although that is only round the corner from the old Yates (theres even a lapdance club next door to this). Never seen any hassle in the town center witht fans before although dont take my word that there wont be any.

I'm drinking in Sheffield pre-match, plenty of good boozers in close proximity to the railway station, getting a late train over to Doncaster.

Said before that there's a pub just near the station called The Leopard.

If you turn right out of the station and head through the car park, the pub is pretty much right in front of you on the corner.

It's a bit shabby but is a proper pub - they have guest beers and real ales too which is always good. Has a pool table as well if you're interested in that kind of thing.

Was thinking about that place until the Wetherspoons was mentioned. Going to stop off in Wakey to meet up with Westyorks and have my 1st beer in Boons then will head into Donny from there.
Got to meet up with the my Brummie mate so will prob head to that 'Spoons (old Yates place) because he'll want to start getting smashed so he can't enjoy the rest of his birthday night out lol

I think you're thinking of 'The Railway', that's the first pub you get to when you turn right out of the station and head through the car park, 'The Leopard' is further away. I believe a few are meeting in 'The Railway', I know we've met there in previous years.

I'm thinking of The Leopard. Isn't The Railway actually attached to the station pretty much?

Nah, The Railway is out the station, turn right, through the car park and it's on the corner, The Leopard is either further up the same street as The Railway or the on the next street after.

Fair enough. I think they're on the same street then cause I know you don't have to turn any corners to get to The Leopard!

Used to go to gigs there quite a lot in the grimy little upstairs room.

Fair enough - I obviously don't remember passing The Railway because I knew I was heading for The Leopard!

yep had few evenings in there, When they have done all the fooking building work around the station area etc it should look more like a town centre not the run down building site it is at the moment.
