Brought for a measley £375,000 back in 1993 from Swansea City and was one of Frank Clark's first signings and had 6 years playing for Forest with a one month loan spell out to Port Vale in 1998 due to losing his right back place to Thierry Bonalair, but still played some part in Forest promotion back to the Premiership.


Left Forest in 1999 and joined Premiership Watford only playing 11 games all season and mainly being on the subs bench. Faired somewhat better at West Brom a season later, but fell down the pecking order the following 2 seasons and was realeased in 2003.

Since then he has plaed for lower league clubs Northampton, Forest Green Rovers, Worcester City and his current club Tamworth at the age of 38. Des did apply for the vacant Managers role at Tamworth in May but the role was given to former England player Andy Sinton.




On a side not I remember going to watch Forest play Chelsea at the City ground in 1997 when Stuart Pearce was in charge, he played a 5 man midfield with Des Lyttle smack bang in the middle, I remember Forest fans around me murmering *why the hell is he playing there, hes a right back*. As the match went on it became clear as to why, his job was to manmark one of the best players at the time, Zola. Des manmarked him out of the game, Chelsea seemed to be able to do nothing without Zola and Forest went on to win 2-0 against a good Chelsea side
 
thats when we could actually sign a player from swansea!
 
Des was faultless in my memory. Which I'll admit is addled by booze and drugs. Nonetheless he's a legend.
 
He was solid back in the 97/98 season - my abiding memory of Des's years at the CG

I remember him completely marking Ryan Giggs out of the game on a couple of occasions too, when Giggs was at his mightiest - seems a shame that his life has gone downhill to the point that he now spends his time posting spurious rumors on here or the vital forum...

Yeah : ) Loved that game. Also as I recall, Giggs got so frustrated that Des had really done a job on him like nobody else had ever done, he punched our Des in the back of the head, breaking his hand in the process. lol
 
He did the same to Zola too in his prime. A fantastically under-rated player in a very good side under Clark.
 
Des was a cracking player, and a very good man-marker.

I also remember, for some reason, his antics "body popping" in front of the lower tier of the BC stand during breaks in play.

As noted above, a very under-rated player but a great purchase and a key member of Frank Clark's side.
