I will be doing one of these every month, cuz........ I dunno im bored. share what you thought of these players, any songs they had from the crowd, any funny stories, anything.

Signed from French side Le Havre AC in our 98/99 religation season on loan and permanetly the following season playing a 198 games for Forest. Left at the end of the 04/05 season to Norwich city in a swap deal for Gary Holt. Only played 2 games for Norwich in 2 years due to injurys, He is now a scout for Liverpool FC.

I believe at the time he was considered one of the best fullbacks outside the premiership.

Oh, he was bloody fantastic in his prime. Alas, he joined fellow full backs like Lyttle in never going on to improve for whatever reason once he left. Gunter take note!

I think we'd have had another good season out of MLJ if he'd stayed. Who signed him?

MLJ was a good player on his day. He was also a bit tidy when bombing forward, although he wasn't a free scoring full back. He could cross a ball very well, that's for sure.

A very good player. A full-back who got forward and like SHJ said, he could cross a ball.

Went to Norwich in P/Ex for Gary Holt and spent most of his 2 or 3 seasons there on the physio's table. I think he ended up playing only a couple of hand fulls of games for them.

"Louis, Louis-Jean. Louis. LOUIS-JEAN!!"

I saw him in Safeway in Gamston once, talking French and buying flowers. Not sure what he was up to. I deduced he'd cheated on his wife and was trying to paper the cracks, or going to a funeral. Not sure what the French speaking bit was about though

I always used to have a quid on him to score first/last and my bro had one on Jim Brennan.

We didn't win often.

I seem to remember Jimbo once saying on Forest World that he and Matty used to have a £50 bet at the beginning of the season to see who would score the most between them both.

Seeing as Jimbo only scored once for us, against his future employers - Norwich, I take it you had more success than your brother. ;)

MLJ was ace and a bargain buy at a mere £500k, we got almost seven years of good service out of him.

What was Megson thinking when he exchanged him for Gary Holt and the signed the atrocious Eaden to play right-back?!

Holt was a shocking player but at least he played.

Louis Jean left and barely kicked a ball again.

Yeah but Megson hardly knew what injury problems MLJ would face when he left!

Plus who's to say he would have suffered the same injury at Forest?

You must have been the only person who expected Des to improve when he left!

Bumped into him in John Lewis, along with a jaw dropping fit young lady. The best thing I ever heard about this man was when Forest were hitting the financial wall and he was due a new contract.

He was going on his holidays and all he asked for, was a fair contract in the current circumstances because he did not want to leave Forest. Came back and first thing he did was sign his new contract. He could also play a bit as well

We had just been relegated to L1, I guess MLJ wanted to play at a higher level.

JESPER MATTSSON.....

THIERRY BONALAIR......

JON OLAV HJELDE....

LARS BOHINEN.....

NIKOLA JERKAN......

MORENO MANNINI....

HUGO PORFIRIO.....

Where are all these guys now ? I heard Mannini was assistant at Sampdoria, and does Thierry Bonalair still have his restaurant in France, what a signing he was by the way !! I remember him scoring a cracking goal live on Sky for us, and after the match the interviewer asked him if he'd ever scored a better goal than that, he just said "Yeah", completely deadpan, and when everyone started laughing thinking he was joking, he was adamant and tried to persuade them that he had !! Funny at the time !

Lars joined Derby...dirty sod !
