What's wrong with Billy Davies????????

Am i missing something?

There seems to be sentiment on here that Billy Davies would be a worse manager than David Pratt.

Can I remind folks that he guided Derby into the Premiership on a shoestring budget after they finished near bottom the previous season. He also worked wonders at a mediocre Preston side if my memory serves.

Ok he f**ked up in prem but bloody hell most managers do with promoted teams.

Is it the Derby connection??? What about Brian Clough...where did he come from?!

I do wonder how people's minds work sometimes!!!

In my opinion he would be an excellent choice

No seriously someone tell me I'm wrong for thinking he'd be a good choice.

His teams always play good organised honest and effective football.

He spent £5 million in his promotion season at D*rby, there were the third biggest spenders behind Birmingham and Sunderland that season.

He is renowned for playing an ugly hoofball brand of football,Forest fans in general like to see football played in the right manner.

Gary Megson had a similar pedigree as Davies before coming here, look what happened there

Don't EVER mention that man in the same sentence as Clough again or try and use the argument that Clough managed D*rby to try and justify your argument, for your own sake here

He's called Billy.

Reminds me of that classic children's character 'Billy Whizz' from the Beano who's persona was tragically ruined when they changed the animator.

Where I come from it's called Rugby.

Sure, it works, and it's great to win every game 1-0, but I don't want to watch it, thanks.

You can honestly say you'd rather see home defeats to the likes of Doncaster and Yeovil to 1-0 wins every week and a chance to get beck in the Prem?!

I would have anything to get a shot at restoring our top flight place

Under Davies the ball is to be kicked so hard it almost bursts when it lands on the head of a big lump of a striker, cue the purchase of steve howard :(

I for one would not go to the City Ground if he was in charge. Conversely I would crawl through broken glass to go if Nigel was in charge. whatever the results.

For what it's worth I'm in agreement with the OP.

Whilst Davies wouldn't be my first choice, I don't think he'd be a bad appointment. We need points, not pretty football - Davies has the record.
My only reservations over him would be his relationship with Earnshaw, someone who might turn out vital to our survival bid.

Short term he may keep us up but long term his style of football would not be tolerated by the Forest fans and the first bad run of results he would be turned on. It would follow the same path as when we appointed Megson and simply put he is not a Forest style of manager. I think in 18 months we would be back in the same spot and trying to find another manager.

I think he is a manager that would keep us in this league of that there is no doubt in my mind. His record in this league is (I think!!!) a finish of 3rd 4th and 5th.... Now nobody can argue with those stats. His win ratio in this league is simply outstanding and he does get teams in the top half of the championship, Look at Preston when he left!!!!!

However he is a vile creature who quits when the going gets tough, Falls out with players, The board and fans and generally is a twat when he has had enough, I want Forest to succeed the right way with the right man and that IS NOT Davies........
