What's up with Lewis?, and Garner looks fed up!

Lewis don't look happy, played in spurts yesterday and seems to have lost some of his pace, I know Garner was up against 2 giant QPR defenders but he just does not look himself and when he went off BD blanked him, methinks when Earnie is back Garner will be off on loan somewhere probably used as a swap....thoughts?

Lewis looks like his lost abit pace, maybe a rest for a week or 2 will do him the world of good. can we really rest him at the moment?
Garner didnt really get many chances yesterday. Maybe he was upset at being taken off. He can still do for a job for us.

We dont have a big enough squad to be resting or loaning players out.

I think Garner was probably annoyed yesterday at not getting anything from the referee, and also because he didn't really do anything to impress when he got his chance.

He's not going anywhere because he's far too good to lose.

Davies isn't stupid, and won't let him go anywhere.

As for McGugan, you're not the only person to notice his 'lack of effort'.

Perhaps he is just jaded and in need of a rest, which, unfortunately, we don't have the players to allow at the moment.

He got no change out of the 2 QPR defenders who were quite dirty and the ref did not protect him or tyson.

He's been out of the team for a while.

Give him a chance.

And BD didn't blank him at all. Garner walked off looking down and BD stopped Garner to have a few words with him!

I thought Lewis played okay yesterday, better than he has been recently.

Lewis is constipated.
Garner has trapped wind.
It's in the papers today.

Whats up with McGugan - Two things
he simply isn't as good as a lot of Forest fans (and himself) seem to believe
he has no workrate and seems to have no desire to improve

he's being played defensive midfielder in Moussi's absence, doesnt suite him and he probably doesnt like paying there. He isnt very effective in that position, you need a workaholic playing there

Garner wasnt happy before BD arrived, think it was mentioned on here around the Man City game

Nick.

Once known as Nick.Doyle.nffc on 'ere.
Lewis Mcgugan, I think sometimes is a little over rated, Yesterday he made some good tackles, but other times he taken too long on the ball doing his skills, and getting nowhere at the end. But he had a good game.

Garner, well.. He has barely played at the moment, he made some good headers in the first half, but didn't look too interested, ran a bit, The two defenders did have a big advantage over him though.

Calderwoods training wasnt hard enough and as a result the boys especially ,mcgugan, lack fitness expect BD to sort that out though

Lewis is going to lose at least a little bit of his pace, isn't he? I mean, compare the amount of muscle he's got now to last season. He's quite a bit bigger and stronger now so he's not going to be quite as fast; it's a little bit unfair to suggest that this means he isn't trying as hard!

That said, he's hardly my favourite player. Had a good game last match though, I thought.

If he's gaining muscle he shouldn't lose pace, infact, he should gain more explosive power, so should really get quicker. Many Olympic lifters can post exceptionally quick times in the american sprint 40 yard dash that is a benchmark timing system used in the NFL.

Yeah, except that in atheletes it doesn't usually work like that, does it? I'm not saying that there aren't exceptions but generally if you gain muscle then it's more difficult to co-ordinate and use it properly for a little while. I'm not saying that everybody with muscle is slow but it tends to be that way until they get used to it.

You only have to look at track athletics. Take a 100m runner and a marathon runner, the 100m guy will have a lot more muscle, as thats what is required for explosive bursts of speed, the marathon runner doesn't need explosive power. Chris Hoy the cyclist, his thighs are massive, as thats where the power came from, so if lewis has packed on muscle it shouldn't really slow him down, unless he's just been training chest and biceps :D

Garner spends more time on his arse then he does on his feet. Now he can fool some referees but there was no fooling the ref yesterday and so you would've thought he'd habve given up on going down every 5 minutes. Instead he continued. He was isolated most of the game with 2 6ft defenders which is a challenge for anyone. He gave up to easily and quite rightly BD was having none of it. Garner perhaps doesn't like the kind of manager that doesn't make excuses for him and continue to play him.

QPR played dirty and most of the time garner ended up on his arse because he had an elbow in his face

Yes, but my point is that it will at first. Nobody instantly knows how to use their muscles just after you get them.

You only had to look at Cohen a few months ago; there was a point where he could barely coordinate himself well enough to stay on his feet! He's no slower now, but at first it can be pretty hard to deal with.

Ah well. We both obviously know our stuff (before you say it I do have reasons for my opinions! :p) but disagree, which is fine. I'm just saying, that's all.
