What would you want to see from an online fanzine?

Hi guys,

I'm in the midst of creating a new online Forest fanzine and was wondering what sort of features you would like to see from such a site?

If this all goes well I would also be looking at moving into the print medium!

Looking forward to hearing from you all :)

Haven't really got any suggestions, as the fanzine format is pretty well established these days - a mixture of the irreverant and the factual etc...

However, if you need any help finding a printer, then drop me a PM. As I buy all the print for Thomas Cook UK's brochures so am pretty well versed in that kind of thing.

Brilliant, I shall probably be doing that once I'm home.

Another thing is I'll need to compile a database of Forest images! So if anybody has images they have taken themselves I would love to have them on board, just to accompany stories etc.!

I`d like to see vouchers for free season tickets and priority to Derby away.

I'd quite like to see some boobies in it.

...preferably Alan Rogers.

Tough area to 'break' into given the wealth of Forest online content - not least LTLF ( :D ).. but there's lots of fan-driven content on sites like Vital too, as well as numerous Forest-devoted blogs.

Good luck, nonetheless!

I'd like to see a good forum, some good blogging, and perhaps an automated link to other blogging sites, so that I can see stories published on websites I wouldn't normally visit.

Speak to Alex, Winnits and StuC. I bet they could come up with a decent Forest website!

Personally I'd love to learn more about our history. As far as I can tell prior to BC, we had a decent team with joe baker etc, elton john's uncle won us the cup in the 50s, we beat some scummy team in the 1890s and was formed in 1865. Love to find out what went on inbetween. So old match reports, some scans of old programmes, interviews with forest fans even older than maverick, what prompted us to be formed, ground history, old rivalries, the forest fans who helped to set up arsenal and gave them their first kits. We already have vital for gossip, ltlf for sensible debate so you need a usp. I'd love to pour through a fanzine like that.

Older than Maverick? That must be an endangered species!

To get most of that there's plenty of books about Forest's history - there's an ace one about the 1959 cup run (called 'And the ref was called Clough), and there's official statistical and illustrated history volumes too.

Yeah but I'm cheap, though if you'd like to buy me a nice xmas present $-D that huge boots salary needs to go somewhere....I realise the details will be elsewhere but I was looking for the meat to fill them. I will check the cup run book. I read a cool one about john inverdale's dad who played for us then but I forget the name. Well worth reading despite my dodgy memory, was a nice father son thing too.

There's a top book called 'My father and other working class football heroes' by Gary Imlach which isn't specifically about Forest but about his dad, Stewart Imlach who did play for us - that's a really good read as well.

As for my huge salary, pfft. I wish! Still scrabbling for season ticket money!

Couldn't even get the author right ;-< only read it a year ago too. It's excellent though. Don't boots make enough money selling formula milk in africa to mothers who can't afford it and don't need it to pay you a decent wage? That sucks. Maybe churchill matrix or northern rock would be a better employer?

I have a book which is a compilation of the last 100 years of newspaper clippings.

I got it not long after we got promoted and it ended with the promotion story.

Well worth a read.

Plus, wasn't it players who set up Arsenal, not fans? Seem to recall them getting jobs at the Woolwich Arsenal bank or something.

Yep, a couple of players went to work at the Armoury in Woolwich, and Forest let 'em take some kits and balls with them.

I bought that book for my bro (was it a 'This is your life' style red book?). It was good :)
