OK so @pool would need to lose by about two and we win by about three for 18th. But a Barnsley/Plymouth Draw I reckon 19th is doable!

i honestly think that has to be the target - or at least top ten

we have shown that we can compete in this league now its time to move on - maybe its just a shot of non regulation euphoria but I cant see us struggling again next year

I hope not, I don't want that promotion propaganda again for a while.

Agreed. Pushing for promotion too early would murder this team. We'd be the next sheep in the premiership.

Agreed. Midtable obscurity would do me just fine, we've got to be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we played with such freedom this weekend that we hammered Southampton by four or five goals and reproduced a Swindon-style victory (7-1)

Next season, I think we should be looking at mid-table obscurity; 10th - 14th and then push on the following season for promotion.

I think all of that is definitely reachable.

I think we'll go up - I honestly can't see us losing ever again.

I don't think you should go into anything hoping to just be average. That's the sort of attitude that gets you below average results.

We need to aim for the play-offs.

So the sheep bottled it. Look at other teams that have gone up recently like Stoke and Hull. We are not guaranteed to be as bad as the sheep.

I didn't mean our aim should be to finish in mid-table. I meant that's where I think we'll finish.

I'm going to finish completely mullered.

I wasn't really aiming my comment at you. I just mean we need to aim for the playoffs next year. That's the sort of ambition we need to bring good quality players in.

If we aim for the playoffs and fall short we end up mid table. If we aim for mid table we could end up in the relegation zone again.

Billy Davies is already talking about play offs but much depends on his transfer dealings.

If we maintained our form during the secind half of the season for a whole season, we'd have enough points for a top ten finish, so the basis is there to challenge for the playoffs, but I'd imagine that the priority will be to ensure we don't end up battling relegation again.

For me, it hangs on the purchase of Blackstock (or similar), he has brought something else to the team in terms of a physical, yet skillful presence up front. Getting some proper full backs into the team, and choosing a definitive first choice keeper should add some defensive stability. There's lots to be done.
