With a Wendies mate telling me how badly Forest are doing considering they have spent £6million I decided to delve a bit deeper and found this useful website. Shows some interesting stats especailly Ipsh!t!!

I think we're doing pretty well considering.

Ipsh1t - £8.8m (Leadbitter - 2.6m, Martin - £2m, Priskin - 1.7m, Edwards - 1.3m)
Cardiff - £6.7m (chopra was £4.1m)
Boro - £6.5m
Shef U - £6.4m (Evans was £3m alone)
Forest - £6.1m
Reading - £5.7m (Mills £2m, Rasziak - 1.5m, McAnuff - 1.5m)

Albinos, the Barcodes and Miserablebugger have spent a hell of a lot more than us in recent years though and there wages will be a lot more

and lets not forget Cardiff have spent next seasons money already as well lol

Money, money, money
Must be funny
In the rich man's world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich man's world
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
If I had a little money
It's a rich man's world

How much have Newcastle spent keeping players on premier league contracts?

Where's Whingeing Nige's argument that we are where we are because of what we spent?

Considering what a small, inexperienced squad we had before we spent that money we are probably over achieving massively, which is testament to Davies' ability to manage and get the best out of players at this level.

We should really consider the squad cost over time rather than how much has been spent this season. We needed to spend more this season as last year we came up with a lightweight squad which was dire and nearly went down.

Newcastle have come down with a vastly experienced side yet have still spent nearly as much as us this season. In seasons gone they spent £10m on Collocini alone.

West Brom paid £3.25m for Carson, £2.5m for Bednar, Luke Moore for £3m, £3m for Brunt, £1m for Ollson, £1.4m for Miller etc - thats £14m on 6 players, probabkly about the same cost as our entire squad.

Edit: Smith £500k, Camp £300k, Gunter £1.2m, Perch £0, Wes £0, Kelvin £500k, Bennet £300k, Lynch £200k, Chambers, £300k, Ando £250k, McCleary £50k, McGugan £0, McKenna £700k, Cohen £1.2m, Moussi £300k, Majewski £0, Tyson £700k, McGoldrick £1m, Dele £0, Earnshaw £2.5m, Blackstock £1.2m, Garner £1.2m, Body £0.

That's a whopping £12.4m. £1.5m less than the West Brom six listed above and, if you took Earnshaw out of the list, our entire squad would be worth Collocini.

That was my point and I bet our wages are a lot, lot, lot, lot lower

And, recent circumstances considering, it's also a huge testament to our acquisitions panel.

They've got a lot of our fee's wrong.

McGoldrick's down as £1.6m, he cost £1m. Blackstock at £1.6m, should be £800k. McKenna at £900k, should be £750k. Earnie at £3m, should be £2.65m, Garner at £1.4m, should be £1.1m.

Ipswich £8.8m and look where they are...Roy Keane really is the single biggest waster of transfer fees since David Platt...

dont forget a lot of teams on that list have also recieved a lot of cash in player sales too, Sheffield United recieved a shit load for those two full backs who went to Spurs, Cardiff Sold Roger Johnson to Brum, Newcastle sold Martins, Bassong, Beye, Duff and offloaded Owen, Boro sold Downing, Tuncay, Afonso Alves and Huth, Reading sold Doyle, the only team on that list who have spent more than they made in transfers are Ipswich, Cardiff ( who made a net spend of about 350k ) us and West Brom ( who spent about 4 mil whilst recieving 1 million )

The site linked to also has market values for our players.

Apparently Chambers is worth more than Wes, Lynch more than Bennett and Adebola £900k. Laughable.

Evans wasn't £3m. It can go up to that but we haven't paid out that amount so far. Everyone thinks we have paid £3m for him and we haven't.

A lot of our signings were ludicrously good value too. We pretty much bought Camp and Anderson for a half eaten bacon sandwich.

I've just noticed how much Ipswich spent. I can't believe he's still in a job there!

His contract would cost a fortune to pay up, only reason for keeping him in a job. He will keep them up this season and unless there are massive improvements he will be out soon next season.

Jim Magilton was sacked for doing far better than Keane is.

Bennetts fee probably reflects the fact he hasn't played a competitive game for over a year and hasn't proven himself above league 1. Lynch played half a season for us and while no great shakes he did OK in our fight for survival under BD.

I'd question the other two fees though.

Most transfers are like that though. We signed McGoldrick for £1m but it'll only reach that fee if certain clauses are met over the next year or three. Then there's installments, etc.

We spent £1.1m on Joe Garner?

Yeah, it sounds a lot worse than it is when you hear Evans was bought for £3m. That would mean £3m plus wages and bonuses etc. Thankfully it wasn't AS bad!

That is true and Jim was sacked over the phone when he was in Ireland with his ill mum or something. Shocking.
