What can Celtic expect from Wilson?

Celtic fan here. Just hoping you could help us out with what to expect if, as it looks like, we sign your man.

What we've really been needing for ages is an older experienced type. Someone who shouts, bawls and organises. Anyone who's watched us over the last few seasons will be aware that we're not the team we were and it won't take much to improve our defence. I know you went on a great run last year and your defence was looking sharp but I can't remember much about Wilson in particular. I know he's not old or experienced and that's about it.

Is he slow? Does he read games well or get caught out? How's his distribution? We've already got centre halfs who can make a dozen pointless punts a game.

This stuff about going on strike is a bit of a concern. If things aren't going well in Scotland it can become a grinding bore. We can do without the big headed types who think they should be playing at a top 4 prem club.

Can't agree at all. Wilson's performances last season were just as impressive as Morgan's. Not sure what you think Morgan is better at all round as Wilson is by far the more composed of the two.

Good player at Championship level but was one I had concerns over if we got the to Prem

Hi

Wilson is a decent defender and more than good enough for SPL, in fact i'll stick my head on the block and say he'll be one of the best/better defenders in your league next year. He isn't that experienced really but has good pace and his distribution came on leaps and bounds last season (he was immence last season for us ).

He is quite vocal (captained us a couple of years ago), occasionally prone to the odd howler when trying to be too cute with the ball, however seems to have addressed this under billy davis last season. One annoying thing is he can be quite mouthy with his team mates esp if you conceed a goal, its never his fault!

Really hope all the transfer talk is ballox and he stays with us, as I truely believe he could play in the premiership one day. Would wish you good luck for the season but can't bring myself to as Im a Rangers fan and think Lennon is a total arsehole! Hope you finish 2nd again will that do!!!!??

If I had to choose I would much prefer to keep Wes over Wilson and that ain't because of Wilson apparently going on strike.

He's not that old either at 24. He's had one good and one indifferent season for us in the championship. After the 2008/2009 season most Forest fans would have driven the then "Casual Kelv" up to Glasgow, however last season he had improved immensely and I doubt many would want him to leave - particularly as we appear to be unable to sign players!

He is a decent defender that has had a great season for us. I will be gutted if he goes.

I'd rather lose big wes if I'm honest. For a big man he doesn't dominate in the air and he can at times be clumsy, as for his distribution kelv is a class act, at this level at least. The half crap rio description is apt

Looking at the the structure of these 2 players, would it be reasonable to say Wilson could come back from a lay off in better shape than Wes, maybe even with an injury have more in his game to keep on playing?

Wow. Before he was seriously wanted you guys couldn't help but list the qualities of Wilson and now all of a sudden he is everything but. At least I am consistent when I say he is a decent Championship player but not Prem standard. The notion that Wes is better is just fantasy though. They are no better or worse than any other players in the Championship, Billy Boy just organised them better last year and both are not Prem standard.

Anyway, can you blame the guy if he wants to play in front of about 50,000 fans every week, earn more money and get to strut his stuff in Europe? I know we love Forest but please be real... WE ARE NOT A BIG CLUB ANY MORE!!!

£1 million is too cheap, £2million is fair, £2.5 million will be good business. We just need to make sure we have a better replacement ready to come in. This is my greater concern.

Quick, strong, distributes well from the back. Brilliant on the cover, not the most dominant in the air but he's improved on that aspect over the last year or so.

I don't see why Wilson couldn't make a decent job of it in the Premiership.

Fast, strong, decent positioning, reads the game well, composed on the ball, good tackler and decent in the air. He is very young for a centre back and under better coaches and with better players around him he will only get better, he has the raw talent and physique and I think there are a fair few worser or less talented defenders in the Premiership at the moment.

That was just because Rio Ferdinand started to be crap, which closed the gap somewhat!

In all honesty, I rate Wilson. He's perhaps too laid back and reliant on pace, but he's really matured over the past year.

Playign in front of Camp has really helped him, as he was one of the ones with a 'blame others' attitude. Camp didn't let him do this, and his game really improved.

If you get him for a million you've got bargain and we'd be pissed off.

If you get him for £2.5m you've probably slightly overspent.

If you get him at all, we'll be pissed off, which tells you everything you would need to know about him.

Depends what the basis of the strike is.

PVH was right, after all. He saw coming what we had to endure for 10 years. Perhaps if the rest of the squad had cared as much as him we wouldn't have fallen to the depths we did.

Of course, if he's just spat his dummy out over not being allowed to leave, then it's a different kettle of fish.
