What about...

Nicky Bailey from Charlton?

It appears that Pratley is our number one target in centre mid but this guy is defo worth a go.

Scored over ten this season, strong tackler, great leader, in fact he's their captain.

Think there has been clubs sniffing around him before but with Charlton not getting promo(He missed in the peno shoot-out!) we should be able to pick him up for less than Prat, and he's probably his equal.

What do you orrible lot think?

Decent player at this level, did well as Charlton got relegated. Pratley has Premiership potential though.

Bailey will never play in a better league than this one. Pratley will.

He'd be a decent signing, but we should be aiming higher.

Tbf guy's, how much have you honestly seen of Pratley?

And how much have you seen of Bailey?

I've probably seen both around the same amount of times on Sky, and would say there is very little between em.

Sometimes i think some fans just believe the hype alittle too much.

(Wakes up from "Dream")

I've seen Pratley a few times this season and I go to uni with both Charlton and Swansea fans so I've heard their views.

The Charlton fan said that while Bailey works hard and pops up with goals, he sometimes lacks the intelligence and ability to make a step-up.

Pratley, on the other hand, is someone tipped for the Premier League by other managers and by the media. The Swansea fan rates him as their number one asset as well.

This is just the point of have banging on about, how do you know Bailey wouldn’t be able to step up and yet you’re so sure Pratley will. You also say we should be aiming higher which of course I do agree, but answer me this, Why in hell do you automatically presume that top quality players will or want to play for Forest and again this is the casing point, fans thinking we are something extra special when clearly we are just an average championship side with the potential of maybe gaining promotion our league status over the last decade has proved that point. We are just another club in the second tier of English football hoping to sign what we consider better players there is nothing special about that and although we have great history and something to be proud of it is only history and that wins us nothing.
We has fans have to get out of that so called ‘we are Nottingham forest and every player wants to play for us bollocks’ we are fans of a great club with a great history but it doesn’t give us an automatic right, there is no telling if Bailey, Pratley or anyone else for that matter would be great for forest but simply dismissing Bailey because you happen to thing he is not capable is utter rubbish and equally Pratley could turn out to be shit as well, all we can do as fans is hope that the club and the powers at be make what they consider the right choices and that they actually work out for us what you say or I say makes no difference at all. have a nice summer Jonathan

Don't assume your the only one who has seen them just because other people have different views.

I've seen them both live and many times on Sky and Pratley is better.

I wasn't automatically assuming anything.

I was saying that Pratley's a better player than Bailey, that Bailey wouldn't be an improvement on anything we've already got (he's a left-sided or central midfielder like Cohen) and that Bailey, on what I've seen and what I've been told by a Charlton fan, wouldn't be good enough for anything more than the Premier League.

I mentioned his name as a possibility last summer, but I think we've moved on from then.

I wasn't replying to you, I was replying to the poster I quoted

Did you miss the point where he said 'He'd be a decent signing.'

Hardly writing the lad off.

Pratley is increasingly looking unrealistic so Bailey would be a decent alternative. As long as the transfer panel doesn't shoot it down though.

Well said mate.

Listen guy's I'm not saying everyone on ere hasn't seen these guys play, but it does annoy me when some people jump on the bandwagon when potential new signings are around the corner and base their opinions on internet forums and the daily star!

I hope we do sign Pratley but if not i feel Bailey could easily do the job

Someone mentioned that he's no better than what we have got?! I would have him in our Forest side over Moussi.
{Awaits verbal abuse!}

No i didn't miss that point at all and i agree he would be a suitable signing indeed, point i was making is you cant tall me Bailey would be any less effective than Pratley and that he wouldn't be able to make the step upwards to the premiership, that is a question none of us no the answer too.

Most Charlton fans I know (all two of them) think Bailey is good enough for a lower Championship side.

Shelvey was their crown jewel but he's gone to Liverpool, I think.

Pratley is good enough for the Championship. He's proven that.

Therefore, I'm quite happy to say I'd prefer him to Bailey.

I think people need to distinguish between abuse and between somebody simply offering a different viewpoint!

You make very goods points but lets not forget Bailey was equally impressive for Charlton when there were in the championship it's just a shame for him that the rest weren't.
On Pratley though, i think we can kiss goodbye to him if the rumors about wigan are to be believed :console:

a good shout. Any time I've seen Bailey i've been impressed (albeit in L1, but think he could play at least at championship level)

Skysports.com understands Norwich and Southampton have made moves to sign Charlton's Nicky Bailey.
Several other Championship and Premier League clubs are monitoring the situation, including West Brom, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest.
The Addicks skipper is hot property after netting 12 League One goals last term to fire his side into the play-offs.
However, he then endured the agony of missing the crucial penalty as the Addicks suffered their heartbreaking semi-final shoot-out defeat to Swindon.
While Charlton boss Phil Parkinson has previously stated he will fight hard to keep hold of his best players, the failure to reach the Championship will undoubtedly increase the pressure on keeping his squad intact.
