Wembley for Women

Not sure if there is a thread on this, I think it deserves its own thread just so i can point out how stupid and ridiculous the idea is. Women are so so bad at football, its like a comedy show. The keepers make Paul Smith look like Peter Schmeichel. Plus, for some reason, none of the female footballers are even remotely attractive. They would get attendances of about 30, which would not even pay for the use of the floodlights during the game. The whole idea is stupid stupid stupid stupid.

This whole thread is stupid stupid stupid.

Its a terrific idea to get Fifa onside.

pro's - more woman supporters walking around nottingham, good comedy show to go to, money for forest, get fifa and our government onside
cons - dire football, but you don't have to watch it

But no-one in their right minds will go to watch it, so how will it make us money?

24,000 went to the WFA final
My point exactly, the biggest domestic game of the season couldn't even fill the City Ground, so here is no reason to have an even bigger stadium for it.

one game a season, which we hold anyway., Also bare in mind it would be for the england games, which attract more. i think the point of it was to get the big boys onside rather than put on a show

Despite your well-thought out response, your intellectual argument has not convinced me that I am wrong. I don't think its sexist to recognise that there re some things men are better at, just as there aare some things women are better at.

Hopefully this will make you think otherwise... England Womens Team would Beat Forest Mens Team... Not so crap after all.

And tbh how can you expect women/girls football to be so great when there is no where near as much support at grassroots level as there is for mens/boys football?

Next time think about your comments before you post... You make yourself look like a dumb ass :tophat:

Don't be silly.

I don't see the problem in hosting women's matches at any new ground, we've done it at the CG.

One of the Arsenal players said they reckoned the Arsenal women's team to be about the standard of a team one league below the Blue Square Premier. She was injured, so was a pundit for the women's cup final (which was the worst game of football ever to be played at Pride Park, and thats saying something). I think she was being generous, but it certainly proves you wrong. Then again its obvious from watching ten minutes of a forest game, then 10 minutes of 'football' played by England women, to see who would win. It would be a bloodbath.

I highly doubt that the England Women's team would be able to beat Forest. I'd be surprised if they could beat Bishops Stortford. I'm not one of these who slates women's football like some sort of demented sexist but you'd have to be incredibly naive to say the least to deny that the quality is well below that of the men's game, even in the lower reaches of the football league.

Still, I see no problem with Nottingham hosting women's internationals.

That wasn't actually my main point it was a joke about forest's poor form at the moment...

My point was its sexism because you say it like women cant play football. Women can play football but just don't have the support from a young age, like men do, to be able to progress to the heights of men's football.

And even if they wern't its a stupid argument considering we sing songs about Robert Earnshaw

Do they rip their shirts off when they score?

When the USA won on pens about 1998, the girl who took the winning pen ran off celebrating with her top off . . . . :nowink:

Simple fact is that women can't play football as well as men (on the whole). I think it is more because men are naturally physically stronger. This explains why, even in sports like tennis where girls are encouraged to play from a young age in the same way as boys are, men make better players.

You're having a laugh there. McGugan would run rings around the midfield, Dele wouldn't need to leave the ground for headers, McKenna'll scream at the captain and her cry whilst Wilson and Big Wes will annihilate anyone who comes near our goal!

Also I've heard a lot of people/ women saying how the ladies national team is more successfull than the mens. They aren't even on the same level so they can't compare in the slightest, until the womens game establishes itself independantly from the mens then only can you come back and say how good the two line up - so I'm saying they shouldn't be set up under the name of an existing team, using the kit from the mens game, or the clubs grounds and facilities. When a womens club runs like this 99 out of a 100 will remain where they should do, as amateur Sunday sides.

And to moan about the lack of support at grassroots levels for the girls as the boys is a poor excuse for the level of the womens game - should the mens game be put on hold for 100+ years so the girls can catch up? NO! Womens football is never going to gain the mass appeal that the mens game receives, not in a million years despite how much money you throw at it.

Finally, being really non-PC, the women just aren't good enough or pretty enough! remember at school there were always a few tom boys who played footie with the boys - they were decent players and could show a few skills but only because the boys didn't tackle them in the same way they would another boy. They were also (usually) not the best lookers either which leads on to my second point - many women follow the mens game because of the Beckhams/ Ronaldos/etc..... , but where are the stunners in the womens team? I remember the American player scoring a penalty then celebrating with her shirt off, now that would get you some viewers!!!!! This on the other hand will not .......

Deal with it! Some men can play netball, but never got the right coaching at a young age to go on and make a career out of it ........ ::)
