We need a striker big time!!!

Without Earnshaw we have no goals in the side,Blackstock isn't prolific he get one goal every 3/4 not good enough for a striker and Adebola like him has never been prolific. Just strange we have a decent striker on loan somewhere else ,Garner would of been good today against an average Barnsley side. Also our midfield was over ran today with Moussi and Cohen were worryingly off the pace with only Mc kenna and Lewis doing something. What progress wasn't made in the summer is slowly starting become the reality we all predicted and that's we are struggling to make the step up from last season.

Garner would have been good?? He can't get in a league 1 outfit and has been reported as being woeful on his rare outings.

I think it is clear from lack of signings/lack of strengthening what the plan is this season, championship consolidation. Last season was simply a one-off, we are weaker than last year yet the expectation is to 'make the step up from last year'?

Dont worry, our glorious owner Nigel Doughty will have it all covered. His shrewd investment guided us out the third flight and turned us into Premiership contenders. As soon as England/Nottingham gets the nod for the WC and the local council & FA chuck us some cash, Nigel will put his master plan into place.

In the meantime, another 8 years of lack lustre ambition will suffice, whilst the fans are expected to shell out Premiership prices.

But we can at least console ourselves with the new superstore packed full of merchandise plastered with past glories from thirty years ago.

But dont live in the past eh?

Do we have any other choice though? Maybe, just maybe.

Strikers aren't our problem. We don't create chances for the ones we have. What we need are players who can create, put in a final ball, a cross etc. Apart from McGugan we are short of quality.

We need wingers. Ones that are actually wingers, and can cross and shit.

Derby have no money at all. They sold Hulse/Varney. But they have brought in 4/5 loans and have now scored 11 goals in three home games. Have we scored 11 all season home and away?

Perhaps Nigel is not the total twat we thought?

We have Majewski who over the past year has been the best link between midfield and the strikers but isn't being used enough.

This is nothing new. Have been saying for a long time that without Earnie we're woefully short. Adebola is well past it now (a hat trick for the reserves means little in all honesty), while Tyson is no goalscorer. Dex yes is a good frontman/targetman in this league but needs someone to work off him. With Earnie out thought McGoldrick might have started alongside him today, now he's back,. I mean after all we shelled out £1m for him, we should be using him, and give him a run of games, especially when other first teamers are out. It's clear the side's lacking edge and needs a lift, which has seen us concede poor goals aswell - and this is something that would probably only be brought about by new players coming in. I had a real feeling that with the failure to strengthen in the summer (especially with every other team strengthening signifcantly), would see this being a real mediocre season/flirting with relegation season, which at the moment is how it's panning out. Is it time to panic yet?

Whilst I agree on the crossing bit, I wouldn't say that having a shit was actually a good idea. What if someone slipped on it later?

Anderson and Garath were on the bench, there both wingers. No good if we play 4 centre mids is it?

If Garner is so good then why has he been relegated to Huddersfield's bench already this season with no goals to his name. He's just going to prove to be a massive waste of money (so much for the AP always getting value!).

The squad isn't good enough, only Doughty can rectify the situation by which time it will be too late this season.

One player per position isn't really enough though, even if we only got someone in to help our current players progress in their position it would be decent.

I don't think we were over run in midfield. I actually think we had more of the game than they did and had plenty of attacks which turn into nothing. They were far more clinical in turning decent possession into chances/goals.

Our football has become incredibly predictable.

yep , that sounds about right to me as well.

I don't know the reasons why Garner has been benched at Huddersfield, but when he has played upfront in a red shirt he's even played well or has scored.

lacked in width today, gunter and bertrand did not get forward as much as they do and cohen and mcgugan we're playing on the wings but played rather as central midfielders (there natural positions) Ando should play right wing and Tyson left?

yeh neither are any good though. Wingers that could cross would actually be amazing. Would it be too much to ask for one that could take a corner too?

Thats really worrying - 4 central midfielders getting over run !! I've seen another poster (I guess he went to the game) said we were over run down the wings too because we played with no width. WTF was going on ?

Just seen the barnsley goals - poor defending and failure to clear the ball for the first (seemingly through a lack of communication? players going for the same ball), whilst the penalty looks soft. Great goal from Lewis, and I suppose the third is us just caught on the break, pushing forward to get the equaliser.

There's a definite need to tighten up at the back though, because we're not scoring many either, and so not keeping clean sheets, is a recipe for losing games

We can't defend balls that are put in the box just behind the defenders, I think the tac tics he used yesterday were to enable the full backs to fly up which is technically a good idea. We tried it at palace last season and they soon figured out how to get around it. As soon as they gain posession without even looking they knocked it down the channel knowing the full backs would be in no mans land and putting us under pressure. Barnsley did a similar thing today, as soon as there first went in I said they would score 3. McGoldrick looked promising though :)
