Joel Lynch extended his loan spell to the end of the season. So it isn't all doom and gloom...

OK it is when it's Joel Lynch!

I thought this was sorted out when calderwood was still here?

Sure it was done before Billy took over

It was 'agreed' before CC left but it was 'signed' in the Jan window. So yes, we did do some business.

Lynch is s**t anyway.

....and Moussi had two good games against Reading and Blunderland before looking very mediocre.

He seems like an honest pro but I am not pinning my hopes on him.

Moussi is a decent box to box midfielder but i don't think he's the cut and dry defensive holding midfielder we are looking for , we should have kept Clingan.

The biggest difference between Clingan and Perch in the holding role is that Clingan is able to hold on and retain the ball , shield the ball if he has to and play it to safety if he can. Perch is a defender and will always be a defender , when any opponent is near him giving him pressure , he treats the ball like a hot potato and just scuffled it anywhere. He can't retain the ball , can't hold on to it. You need a holding midfielder to be able to do some basic stuffs like putting your foot on the ball and hang on to it and just keep the play moving along. Neil lennon does it very well throughout his distinctive career and Clingan was able to do this as well. Clingan is a intelligent player , and holds his position well. He tracks when he needs to , reads the play well and he's always nearby and available for the option of a pass when we have the ball.
Perch unfortunately isn't a particularly intelligent player and really does not know where his position lies , he sits back so deeply he's playing as a third defender and while he does a lot of last ditch tackles , he doesn't hold his position very well at all because he's not where he's supposed to be in central midfield. When we have the ball , the last person you would want to pass to is Perch because he can't hang on to it.

I remember when i watched Perch played as a right back during the pre-season , he also does this - once in a while , he would suddenly go awol from his stated position and drifted to the center and left the right flank for mcleary to defend while for some strange reason , he's in the center.

so your saying that clingan can pass and hold the ball which perch can't do aswell and perch can tackle which clingan can't.

but clingan wasn't that good he ran funny and not as good as cohen in any department and i would rather have moussi over clingan aswell

Clingan was a very capable midfielder.

Moussi has proved nothing yet.

clingan was "capable" but he hardly set league 1 alight or the stand out player in the team like cohen has. and i think moussi is better skill wise and passing wise although he needs to be fit and getting games to make the finished article so to speak

Clingan has been in very good nick for Norwich this season. He's got a lot of assists and a couple of goals. I accept that he was a 7/10 performer in League One, yet he has either added to his game or Norwich just use him better than we did.

Moussi is a confidence player. When he believed in himself his distribution was incredible, but once that confidence ebbed away with our league form, he disappeared into his shell and went missing for lengthy periods during the game. Hopefully Davies is the man to lift his chin up, and with a bit more English under his belt, he can go back to the 'Reading Moussi' - a colossus in the middle of the park.

Clingan takes their penalties.

That's why he has goals to his name!

Cohen & Clingan doesn't play in the same role , our midfield would be far better if it had been Clingan & Cohen in the middle. Clingan was never appreciated at forest but he was always consistent in his play , he doesn't go missing as often as Perch. I only wished that we had kept him.

When you look back at it , we missed the players that we sold/let go - Commons , Clingan & Agogo. All 3 have been missed , whatever faults Commons might have , he is still very much an asset , Clingan would have done much better than Perch in the center and we missed the physical presence of Agogo in attack.
