Victor Chandler

*THE Baggies have struck their second one-game shirt sponsorship deal - teaming up with Victor Chandler for tomorrow’s game against Nottingham Forest, who are also backed by the online betting firm.

Will the game be called Chandler fest then?

Any half time multi-ball?

Is this to combat the fact that Football league on Sky is sponsored by BET365?

Why can't they get their own sponser for a season

The economics are that companies are willing to pay more for a 'one-off' match than they are than clubs would get on a pro-rata rate for the season, i.e. 23 individual sponsors may pay £5000 per game giving a seasons income of £115,000 whereas a single sponsor may only be prepared to pay £100000 per season.

I agree that it is a great move by Victor Chandler

Mr Chandler is taking an active role to ensure we don't finish as Champions :D

Be a very expensive bill coming his way if we do

WBA also had a short term deal, perhaps only the one game, with Blue Square.

It's bad when a team challenging at the top of the league can't find a sponsor for the season.

In fact, the top 3 sides aren't greatly sponsored. Newcastle are sponsored by the government, WBA aren't sponsored and we're sponsored for a single season by an internet betting company.

Back in Nov I was lead to believe the finer details of an extension were being thrashed out. Am surprised nothing announced yet. Especially given the fantastic form we have shown making us evenmore attractive. Maybe the pick up in form has spurred the club to hold out for a bit more money!

Maybe VC should wait til the last minute and then put in a 'derisory' offer, that always seems to work ;D

Now that they are obviously having dealings with WBA......maybe they are waiting to see which one of us is promoted.

Just an idea...

Good shout by VC if it's true.

22 players all with the same sponsor on camera for 90+ minutes, win win situation surely ?

West Brom made the decision last year that they would not have seaon-long sponsorship. They said that economically it made sense for sponsorship on a match by match basis as this also would allow smaller, local companies to sponsor the team. It now appears, however, that they are happy to talk about long term sponsorship if anyone's interested.

I wonder what their odds are on the game being postponed due to weather conditions and how hard VC are pushing to ensure the game goes ahead. lol

I suspect SKY have got blokes out shovelling grit (checked the spelling there!) at the Hawthornes - they've barely shown a game this week and will be desperate to have footy on telly!

I thought it was against regulations to have both teams wearing the same sponsor in a game. I remember when Arsenal were playing a team with Fly Emirates sponsor in the champions League, they had to cover their sponsor with something else. I don't know maybe the rules changed.
