Wayne Routledge

Sky Sports News are reporting that Middlesbrough are "believed to have tabled a bid in the region of £500,000 for Routledge with another £500,000 to be added on at the end of the season".

it is understandably expected that QPR would hold out for more money for one of their most talented players.

i've always been impressed with Routledge when ive seen him play, and i wonder if the super reds should attempt to steal in themselves for someone with premiership experience, especially if QPR would accept a relatively modest fee.

from a tactical perspective i expect he would fit into our system and give depth to the wing positions.

one sticking point might be the relations with QPR, seeing as the purchase of Blackstock caused some controversy.

any thoughts?

I think we have a good relationship with QPR. The board were happy to sell us Blackstock and Camp.

It was only their fans who were opposed to it!

Routledge is a decent player and I think he's fit into our style of play really well. He's a right winger I think, isn't he?

he is, but can also play on the left, and as a second striker, so would certainly cover similar criteria as Victor Moses [whether or not you believe he's likely to come]

I think he's one of the best right wingers in the Championship. At that price he would be a bargain and we've haven't had a right winger for about 5 years!!!

Fair point we have one, we play him mostly on the left though. Garner and Cohen have been right wing this season. Anderson on the left and Routledge on the right would be nice.

Yeah, though that would suggest to me that Billy doesn't want a left footer on the left.

Not my idea of a balanced side but IN BILLY WE TRUST!

anderson is the best winger in this league

I had a look at a few videos of Chris Taylor on YouTube and he also seems to be predominently right footed too.

13.20 Sky Sports News has just learnt Middlesbrough could face competition from another Championship club in their bid to land Wayne Routledge.

(i wish theyd stay of this board!!!!) :p :p :p

Sky Sports News said another 'high-flying' Championship club. Aren't too many of them around...

could this be us

It wont be Sheff Utd or Cardiff... they don't have enough cash...

if its us he may want to come here and join Camp and Blackstock as if he still talks to them they will be selling the club to him as they love it here.

I have a little titbit on this...

Apparantly it is Cardiff who are chasing him.

Now they definately do not have any money.... It's public knowlege they have to sell before they buy... PETER WHITTINGHAM anyone.

I still think that we are after him and I think he will be better than Moses...
