I was one of the Watford fans who visited the City Ground last night - I'm not here to brag about the result - I just wanted to say that I very much enjoyed my visit to your city and your football club. This is the first proper away game I've been to (one which involves travelling a fair distance, going to a large football club and spending the night in a hotel). Getting into/out of the stadium was easy, no trouble, and also the food/drink I was happy with.

One thing I couldn't get over is how close you are geographically to Notts County FC. When taking the cricket ground into consideration, there's three sporting venues all within spitting distance of each other.

Your stadium was impressive - I couldn't get over how high your Trent and Brian Clough stands seem, when you're situated in the away end. I suppose - well, you do accommodate up to 30,000 fans - 11,000 more than us.

On Boxing Day, you'll be coming down to Watford.... Given that this is a Saturday fixture, most of you will probably travel down/back the same day....

In any case, I look forward to seeing Nottingham Forest play us at Vicarage Road. For those who make the journey down - Welcome to Watford, and I hope you have an enjoyable visit (regardless of whatever the result may be).

Oh, and good luck for your upcoming fixtures....

Welcome to the forum!

I thought you deserved your win last night, you were good on the counter against our pathetic back line. Its only a shame we couldn't play like the last 5 minutes of the first half for 90 ...

I don't tend to make it to boxing day fixtures so doubt I'll be coming down but, good luck to the Hornets for the rest of the season and, do stick around!

Thanks mate - glad you enjoyed the trip, still a bit gutted you enjoyed the result quite so much, but can't really have any qualms about you taking the three points back down south with you. A deserved win.

I might pop down for Boxing Day I think. Watford's ground is on my 'to do' list and Boxing Day is always boring as hell!

Watfords ground and surrounding area are one of the more pleaseant grounds to visit. Many moons ago I decided Watford would be the first game I took all my three youngsters to an away match together.

Forest as usual spoiled a really good evening, but the kids enjoyed the experience, one of those, that involved sitting on the fringes of the more boisterous Forest fans that cement the loyalty to the club.

Welcome to the forum and stick around, several other visitors have :)

Good on ya mate. Glad you enjoyed your visit. I too love the City Ground, every time i go im so glad to be a Forest fan. Hopefully we will have a team to match this season. Didnt go to the game but listened to it on the radio and it sounds like we cant have any complaints, so well done on the victory.

Watford is on my hitlist this season - not been yet but been to most London / greater London clubs so might try and get down on boxing day. Good luck for the rest of the season - make sure you beat Derby twice and you'll be my new 2nd club

Never been to Vicarage Road either, might do some day as I've only been to suburban Watford and the centre of most surrounding towns, which begs the question - how do you chaps tell them apart?

Anyway good luck for the season, you've been qritten off in some quarters but you've got some balls to be making the likes of McKenna and Earnshaw have a crap home game. A deserved victory last night. Plus I had a client who was quite an unhappy fellow and he supported Watford. If you do well it would make him very chuffed so I hope you do.

Welcome to the forum mate. Glad you had a good experience. Aye a lot of people find it surreal how close the 3 venues are together. The closest 2 professional grounds in Europe I think.

Good luck for your season too, it seems that we underestimated Watford before the match, but on that performance you should be fine !

All the best and here's hoping the scores are reversed when we visit :nowink:

I think it was in 2001, Green Day and Blink 182 went on the Pop Disaster tour together. We decided to "invade" the Blink 182 forum, saying that Green Day was going to "reclaim their throne". That was a very childish thing to do... I think the more mature set of the GD fans chose to ignore us, since of our childish acts, which only created more fuss around a fine forum for music discussion.
We get it, you support Derby County. You have been a better team than us for a good couple of years. You come here, trying to provoke Forest fans, often in a friendly manner... Some people bite, some doesn't...
I just can't help but wonder how many of you will come back here later this month when we destroy Derby County at the City Ground? Your team of overpaid, cheating, fat, woolly *********** will be more concerned with eating the fine grass of the 07/08 pitch of the year. With their ass in the air, and their teeth biting determined and eagerly into the finest piece of grass in the East Midlands. In the lower Bridgford stand, there will be 5000 people, disguised as sheep, with masks, white costumes and a small tail glued on to their arse cheering your team on!
After 90 minutes with their heads in the ground, Robbie Savage, Rob Hulse, and Kris Commons will slide in front of you, you will celebrate the best meal of your clubs history. Your captain (whoever it might be) will happily hand over the Sir Brian Clough trophy to our captain, Mr. Paul McKenna. 25.000 reds will celebrate the first victory over their local rivals in way too many years, and you will go home to Derby happy that you were invited to be part of this fine occasion.

Thank you very much for participating!

That would be very American of me, I count that as a personal insult! ;)
Seriously though... as I said in another thread... you're nowhere near as annoying as some of the other rival supporters that's been on here! :)
Makes the place more colourful I guess...

Watford are doing their best to become a club which promotes a family friendly atmosphere and they're even trying to discourage swearing.

On a match day, there is usually a high police presence in the town centre, so there shouldn't be any trouble.

Its worth arriving a few hours before, to explore the town centre. Some people think of Watford as being in London (due to it having an underground station, and being inside the M25) - despite its proximity to London, it does retain its own "town" image. The town centre is mostly pedestrianised and has a good shopping centre (the Harlequin) and also has an indoor market which runs on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The kids will probably enjoy the duck pond - which is situated in the night club area. The pond and the area is in need of modernisation but nevertheless, both kids and adults get pleasure from watching and feeding the ducks who make this their home.... In the wider area, there are some nice parks e.g. Cassiobury Park and Rickmansworth Aquadrome but you wouldn't have time to visit these in the one day.

Vicarage Road is in Watford itself - its about 800 meters of walking from the town centre to the stadium itself. Go onto Google Maps and input the club postcode WD1 8ER. There's even street view available.

Re: Watford fan - To all who posted under this thread

Many thanks for all your kind words - Initially, I was a bit nervous posting to this forum (being from a different team) but the responses have put my mind to rest.

Whilst you didn't get the result you wanted the other night, hopefully your team would have been made stronger from this experience. You've got some very significant matches in the next two weeks and I will definitely be wishing you the very best in these....

Cheers.
We did get carried away with all our new attacking options before meeting Watford. And coming from a draw at Reading, and a close encounter home to West Brom, there was a lot of optimism in our camp. Now we've learned how exposed the problems in our back four is... and we seriously need to do something about it if we want a run of consistant results.

Hopefully you'll be able to hold on to a couple of your key players, and you will have an OK season, much like us... :)
