Want a mid table finish ?????

Why do people want a mid table finish. It's all I bloody read.

Lets face it, if we were to, and some of the lads had had a great season they would be snapped up like a shot !

We aren't going to achieve anything aiming for a mid table. The experience is there, at the club, of this league now ! Why not bloody well go for it ?

Oh and before I get accused of being wrapped up in pre season good will, lets not forget that once Billy got his loans in we were the only club to finish with the final 6 games unbeaten ! Billy had them solid, playing together and fighting for each other. Now the players look fitter than ever and the team looks well balanced for the first time I can remember !

Sod obscutiry. i want the lads to push for every single point !

I wouldn't mind a top half finish in the league. I honestly see no reason with the squad we are assembling at the minute why we can't at least be pushing for play offs.

I'll be firing a few quid on us getting promoted with VC at 25/1.

There's a difference between wanting something and expecting something.

Sod your mediocre playoffs, I'd quite like Forest to win the league and challenge again in Europe within three seasons.

This year we know what to expect. If Billy had come in pre-season rather than mid season then I would be a bit unsure. However, seeing the remarkable turnaround under him has left me with a lot of faith ! The type of play we see, how he plans for every eventuality by planning meticulously before each match. The game at Sheff Utd summed it up. We matched them at their own game and played a totally different style. It just shows how versatile the squad can be. The hard pre season also gives me a lift knowing the players will be at the peak of fitness.

If we were to 'do a derby' and win the majority of games 1-0 with backs to the wall I wouldn't be so confident we were ready, but I can't see that happening !

i think everyone wants us to smash the ccc win the premiership and then be undefeated champions of europe again, but that won't happen (yet). i think last season was a bit of a wake call to some, we have no divine right to win anything, and a season were we ain't biting our collective nials for 8 mths might be a good thing?
faith is a good thing but if you really think top 6 etc when were any thing below that you'll be pissed off

I don't think anyone thinks we do have the right to anything (although some posts are exhuberant at best) and it will be tough. But I think comparisons with last season should be put to bed as there are no similarities there.

I'd like a season that doesn't include me getting nervous towards the end of the season.

I think you missed my point completely !

i can understand what your saying but lets not get too carried away, if you expect the best you will always be dissapointed, i do however think we'll surprise a fair few people this season.

We dont want to do a derby and go up

I hate it when people say this. It's a terrible attitude. Just because Derby were crap dosn't mean we would be. What about Stoke or Hull?

We are not Derby. Why should we be afraid of success because they got relegated? They are nothing to do with us. I'm not saying we will go up but to say we don't want to is stupid. We shouldn't be scared of success. We want to be a top flight club again.

Sod Derby we are Forest. Grow a pair.

That's true but I doubt anyone's expecting anything ! In many years following Forest I have come to realise that whatever happens, one way or another there's allways a surprise (good or bad) round the corner !

A tenner of my money is going that way.

For what it's worth the realist in me says 10th place this season, but at that price, and with the tremendous signings weve made (and with no suggestion that were done in the transfer market) I reckon it's well worth it.

Something is telling me we are going to win the playoffs, maybe im a bit mental, and im sure all the D*rby fans will be chuckling into there wooly jumpers, but I am certain we are on our way back to the premiership under Billy, it's just a matter of when.

Ive said it before and il say it again, form is temporary, class is permanent.

Crap they may be, but if we were to go up, im sure each and every one of us would take being top of the premiership in september and surviving on the last day :)

If we can do better than mid table great. I want to win the league but realism has to be considered.

I am hearing deja vu. I was exactly the same as you last year people aiming at mid table and I was claiming we could be looking at a play off spot.

The fact of the matter is we have made some good signings and we do look like we have the right manager in. BUT last season we made some good signings I thought we would thrive but we didn't we struggled desperately. We have made some big alterations but more have to be made and IMO that is going to take longer than a summer.

Bare in mind the squad has to gel too that is going to take time certainly longer than this pre season especially with more signings expected and required.

I don't think people are hoping of a mid table finish people are merely looking at their expectations for the season. They are certainly mine. I would much rather we had a year or 2 in this league before we pushed for promotion we would be so much more prepared fr the premiership.

It's fine to expect mid table. I don't think anyone should expect to be promoted but to say we don't want to? I can't understand that sort of attitude going into anything.

Some good points here. But lets not forget about the quality of this league. There are so many £5m+ rated players in this league its amazing. We don't have one.

Of course no team starts the season without the dream of taking one of those 3 promotion places, and we have bought well so far. If we get a top half finish I wouldn't be surprised, but I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't either.

Every team in this league is building itself up to challenge for promotion. Usually 2 or 3 teams get it right and pull away. We could be one of them, we might not be. Don't think that Newcastle, Boro and West Brom will go straight back up... Out of the 3 my choice would be West Brom. The examples set by Charlton, Norwhich and Southampton sort of say what I mean. Teams drop out of a league for a reason, because their squad wasn't right. Just because they get relegated it doesn't make the squad right again.

And yes, I'd take promotion tomorrow, even if we didn't buy a single player. You can always come back down, but getting up is hard.

I don't expect anything anymore. There's no point!

It'd be nice to see us challenging at the right end, but after last season's 'exploits', I'd rather see us in 13th or 14th than 19th.
