Walk down memory lane

Remember that well, on the brink of Wembley only to draw 1-1 at home to a 3rd division club in the semi final. That was one tight second leg, too.

I think we scored the winner about 5 minutes from the end, didn't we?

Yeah and your goal at your place was an own goal as well!!

Hammered down with rain (though I was under cover) and we had a lone striker of Joe Jordan (who was about 40)

Garry Parker scored if I remember right? Did you win the cup that year?

I wish we had a young Des Walker in our defence now - great tackle about 20 seconds in, after Psycho had lost his man.

Took Franz Carr 12 seconds to go from your area to our penalty box with the ball at his feet.
Now that is swift attacking!!!

Usually followed by him running out of play, ball in tow.

Who the hell nominated Franz Carr for that feature in The Sun about Cloughie's gems?

He was consistently kept out of the team by Gary Crosby, who might have been the worst top flight winger in history.

Franz was like a box of chocolates.

He was as incosistant as they come but bloody exciting to boot, quite simply the quickest player I have seen in a trickys shirt.

Regarding the Bristol City game I remember getting soaked to the bone, I have never felt so wet, and on the way back a mate of mine who had been wearing a leather jacket took it off in the service station and his White Forest away shirt was black where the leather had soaked through.

We were lucky that day also, and I think it was one of BC first games after being banned from the touchline for his sins after the QPR league cup tie.

I used to have it video years ago, when ITV used to call it "the Match".
Absolutely belted it down all day and that away end in those days was out in the elements!!

Clough was definitely on the touchline. At the end of the game Joe Jordan went to shake his hand and instead received a big kiss!

Even though I was only 9 at the time I remember that game being on TV. I think we certainly hung on that day.

I set the old VCR to record the game and still have it with a load of other Footy in the attic.

I remember the commontator that day was the late great Brian Moore, it was great theatre, and over the 2 legs I think we were very lucky.

Bridgford End terrace...half-time

A bloody great (sorry - bloody great ) big inflatable banana - about sixty feet high, emblazoned with the word Fyffe (as in the banana people) - but modified to read "Forest Fyffe, Bristol 0 )...

...happy days!

was that the game that in the away leg someone brought a bloody huge inflatable padling pool and everyone was trying to shelter underneath it lol, also wasnt there a toilet block that sat inbetween the barier of the away and home fans? seem to remember a few people climbing on top to have a go at eachother, I might be confusing this with another match as I think I was about 11 then lol
