Vital on their announcements

This has just been posted on the Scandinavian branch website.
One of our members sent an e-mail to Vital, and asked for an explanation about their announcements about players we have signed, which has not been true.
In my opinion, Vital, LTLF or any other fan driven website should not feel "responsible" for being 100% accurate, and transfer speculation will attract more readers. Announcing something as a done deal, when it turns out it's not, will always get some negativity around it, but for actual confirmation, we all know that the OS is the place to be.

Thought I should just post what Vital responded to the mail sent by our member, and to be honest, it's fair play to the guys at Vital.
I still don't get this rivalry, we're all Forest fans...

Vital Forest is a news based, supporters website and forum. We were lucky enough to have been given the list of targets and intended signings that NFFC were hoping to land this summer. At the time of obtaining that information, I as Editor of the site contacted the clubs' CEO Mark Arthur, to try and assertain whether going public with the info would be sensitive or potentially harmful to any of the deals. Mark Arthur replied, as he has with every email I've sent him over the summer and said I was at liberty to publish anything I believed to be true. The rest as they say, is history.

Now then. I'm not going to get into an arguement with anyone, over who called what and when. What I will say, is that I got the Matt Mills signing wrong. I said he'd signed, when quite clearly, he hadn't. I still trust the source of that information, as he maintains that NFFC had a deal in place, but screwed it up the at the very last minute. Nothing I say however will convince the readers of LTLF, ForestMad, 606, or any of the other Forest sites on the net, that Vital Forest is/was interested in anything else other than "upping it's hit rate." I would defy any Forest fan on the planet, not to have gone public with the info I was landed with.

I have no problem with what has been published on the site this summer. As for the recent news on Earnshaw....the club did accept an offer for him. He may not go though and I hope he doesn't. He's expressed his desire to stay and has told BD he intends to fight for his place. That has to be good news all round. If he stays, we get a player 100% committed to the Forest cause. If he goes, we bag £4.5m! Happy days.

Dawson and Bale are serious targets. We may not get both, or either, but they are targets and the club is doing it's best to sign them. What more can I say? I genuinely believe a deal is close to bringing one or both here. I get the information, I pass it on. In my humble opinion, I think the vast majority of it has been proved correct. You and others will clearly not agree, but I think we're in for some very exciting times at the City Ground, shame a few others can't share that view.

I hope that answers your concerns Espen. At the end of the day, we're all Forest fans and we all want the same thing for the club.....Don't we?

Good luck.

I don't hold issue with Vital and their announcing deals, but announcing them the way they did could alert potential targets to other clubs (like Direby). I vented the same disapproval when LTLF announced the same. As far as I am concerned stories like this should remain within the boards as discussion and only be printed as fact when they are indeed that.

Vital don't seem to grasp this concept. I hope LTLF do not repeat the same situation as they did with Mills as far as I am concerned hearing it via the text service and/or official site is sufficient.

We are probably fairly aware that Vital and Capello more so Vital have been pretty much on the nail with their information, albeit a little premature. The Mills situation is an exception as I do believe from hearing what I've heard that it was in fact f**ked up within the club.

I imagine Vital will continue with this printing of rumour, I just hope in the future that it doesn't bugger up a deal for us or jeopardise the person in the know....

I think that's fair enough.

I don't understand this inter forum rivalry. We're all Forest fans at the end of the day and all the forums are guilty of slagging each other off.

Having a mentally disabled nephew I objected to Guinless calling us "window lickers"

It shows a lack of class.

I think rumour-peddling should be confined to the forums where people have to search for it - publishing it where it will be picked up by newsfeeds is a risky strategy. And I thought the same when Alex opted to go live with the Mills stuff.

As for them defying any Forest fan to run with inside info - I've found out plenty of things in my time and kept quiet about it, sometimes discretion is the better part of valour.

Particularly when it hurts the team you profess to support.

Absoloutely agree, there is more than a hint of ego in that statement hidden in amongst the 'we are all Forest fans' stuff. Fine to take the moral ground but totally agree as to a lack of class when calling others 'window lickers etc'. The whole Vital site reeks of elitism and self promotion by 2 or 3 individuals acting as god.
If the interests of the club are all that matters then that story would not have been publicised on an area likely to attract news channels etc. It was blatant one up manship and elitism...or rather attempted as they just ended up looking stupid. as did others.

Also it does bug me that people are determined to prove that there is a "split" between BD and Mark Arthur/David Pleat/[Insert your own personal satan here]. If there is it clearly isn't ever going to be made public until one of them leaves and perhaps not even then, so why waste your breath on something that can have absolutely no upside for the club?

All this bollocks about "people within the club" f***ing up transfers is complete speculation as is the crap about earnshaw leaving (it came from a forum post somewhere I believe). It's almost as if some people can't accept that something good is happening at the club (9 players in) and are hell-bent on f***ing it up to prove themselves right. I believe the only target that we have concrete information on why they didn't come is Barker and that was for perfectly valid financial/playing reasons.

Hopefully most of this crap will subside after today, but I imagine I will still be reading about why MA is more evil than Charles Manson even if we're 20 points clear at the top by the end of may.

Only Rich and Alex know where they got the info about Matt Mills signing, but the fact it was mentioned along with the "blow your socks off international" makes me think that someone within the club was having a bit of fun at our expense and that perhaps Mills was never as close as has been made out.

Perhaps or maybe just wanted to see where 'leaks' were and fed info out via various sources? Either way it was a bit of a farce.

I posted on their forum, directly aimed at Guinless, regarding the comment.

A few other posters passed comment, but not a peep from Guinless himself.

I also did the same some time ago and actually asked him to provide proof.. However he just singled out you and Al of all people whom insulted him first in my opinion.... The two people whom I would have least expected in the world let alone forums to start name calling are you and Winnits. lol lol lol

Anyway, it's not a battle of wills, he is far to stubborn to see beyond his own agenda. He is the Robbie Savage of the forums. ;)

I asked him when he was going to apologise to the various people who had their hopes raised by his Mills signs story. He replied that he was launching an investigation and the culprit would be dealt with. Thought it was him? Anyway, no apology and no humility.....

Forums are very easy to misinterpret - lots of throwaway comments, lots of injokes - rife for misunderstandings.
