This has just been posted on the Scandinavian branch website.
One of our members sent an e-mail to Vital, and asked for an explanation about their announcements about players we have signed, which has not been true.
In my opinion, Vital, LTLF or any other fan driven website should not feel "responsible" for being 100% accurate, and transfer speculation will attract more readers. Announcing something as a done deal, when it turns out it's not, will always get some negativity around it, but for actual confirmation, we all know that the OS is the place to be.
Thought I should just post what Vital responded to the mail sent by our member, and to be honest, it's fair play to the guys at Vital.
I still don't get this rivalry, we're all Forest fans...
Vital Forest is a news based, supporters website and forum. We were lucky enough to have been given the list of targets and intended signings that NFFC were hoping to land this summer. At the time of obtaining that information, I as Editor of the site contacted the clubs' CEO Mark Arthur, to try and assertain whether going public with the info would be sensitive or potentially harmful to any of the deals. Mark Arthur replied, as he has with every email I've sent him over the summer and said I was at liberty to publish anything I believed to be true. The rest as they say, is history.
Now then. I'm not going to get into an arguement with anyone, over who called what and when. What I will say, is that I got the Matt Mills signing wrong. I said he'd signed, when quite clearly, he hadn't. I still trust the source of that information, as he maintains that NFFC had a deal in place, but screwed it up the at the very last minute. Nothing I say however will convince the readers of LTLF, ForestMad, 606, or any of the other Forest sites on the net, that Vital Forest is/was interested in anything else other than "upping it's hit rate." I would defy any Forest fan on the planet, not to have gone public with the info I was landed with.
I have no problem with what has been published on the site this summer. As for the recent news on Earnshaw....the club did accept an offer for him. He may not go though and I hope he doesn't. He's expressed his desire to stay and has told BD he intends to fight for his place. That has to be good news all round. If he stays, we get a player 100% committed to the Forest cause. If he goes, we bag £4.5m! Happy days.
Dawson and Bale are serious targets. We may not get both, or either, but they are targets and the club is doing it's best to sign them. What more can I say? I genuinely believe a deal is close to bringing one or both here. I get the information, I pass it on. In my humble opinion, I think the vast majority of it has been proved correct. You and others will clearly not agree, but I think we're in for some very exciting times at the City Ground, shame a few others can't share that view.
I hope that answers your concerns Espen. At the end of the day, we're all Forest fans and we all want the same thing for the club.....Don't we?
Good luck.
