"Sponsorship Delight For Reds"

Nottingham Forest are delighted to announce that Victor Chandler is to continue to be the club's official sponsor until the summer of 2012.

The online bookmaker and gaming company has agreed a new two-year deal after a successful first season as the club's sponsor.

Forest's Chief Executive Mark Arthur said: "We are proud of our record of forging strong associations with our principle sponsors and delivering success for them.

"And we are delighted Victor Chandler has agreed to extend the sponsorship agreement for a further two years."

Victor Chandler, Chairman of the company that bears his name, added: "I am delighted to have reached an agreement to continue sponsoring Nottingham Forest for a further two seasons.

"This season has been a huge success and I am confident the team will secure promotion to the Premier League. The global television coverage of the Premier League offers worldwide media opportunities and will benefit our Far East business particularly."

Victor Chandler currently rate Forest as an 8/1 shot to win the Coca-Cola Championship this season and Evens to gain promotion to the Premier League.

Robert Earnshaw and Dexter Blackstock are both priced up at 5/6 to finish this season as Forest's top league goal-scorer.

Victor Chandler is hoping Forest gain promotion to the Premier League, although not as Champions as this would cost Chandler in the region of ÂŁ6m following his pre-season promotion pledge to season ticket holders to pay for next season's renewals should they win the league.

Viv Anderson, Forest Legend and now Victor Chandler's football ambassador, commented: "Victor thought he was offering a safe bet at the start of the season but the turnaround with Forest has been amazing.

"Billy Davies has built a tough, well organised side and even if they miss out on automatic promotion they will enter the play-offs as strong favourites to be promoted."

A shrewd deal by Mr Chandler there. He's obviously seen our potential to make it into the top flight and he'd like to get a piece of the sweet potato pie.

I wonder if he'll carry on paying a Championship price for the sponsorship because its a contract of sorts? Or if we go up, will he have to give us more dosh?

Depends on exactly what's been agreed in the contract. If Forest negotiated smart, there's probably some sort of % increase if we go up.

The payment from VC will go up substantially if we are promoted this season or at any time during the sponsorhip.

Remember when sponsorship was first announced, a few people were claiming it was like taking money off the devil having a bookie as sponsor (even though at the time we were lucky to even get one unlike some clubs).

Personally think VC have done a good job (season ticket promotion, special forest bets etc) and one of our better sponsors in recent times.

Agreed, they seem to be a much higher class of bookie, not the shitty high street or online ones you get sometimes.

Absolutely spot on. VC has been a very good sponsor and, unlike some, one who seems to give a toss.

However, I've never been very sentimental where betting is concerned, so as soon as he goes non-runner no bet, we should all back Alfie Sherrin in the Pertemps Final and The Hollinwell in the Jewson at Cheltenham next week.

If we go up, maybe he will offer us another outlandish scenario such as free season tickets if we qualify for the Champions League!

Labaats came after Shipstones(fine beers!) didn't it? Anyone remember exactly the period when Shipstones sponsored us?, pretty sure their name was on the jersey when I started following Forest. I was but a wee pup at the time.
Not from Nottingham btw so wasn't born into this. Made the life defining/enhancing call to be a Forest fan at roughly around the age of five. Never looked back!

1987-1994 were the "Shipstones Fine Beers" years. Although in 93-94, our away kit was sponsored by Labbatts, who took over full time the following season.

I've still got an '89 Shippo's shirt kicking about somewhere - might have to give it an airing one day soon!
