Victor Chandler £6m Nottingham Forest Championship Pledge

Online bookmaker and Nottingham Forest sponsor Victor Chandler has announced it will pay for 2010/11 Premier League adult season tickets if Nottingham Forest win the Championship title this season, in a move that could cost Victor Chandler in excess of £6million

The offer is open to all Nottingham Forest season ticket holders who open an online account with Victor Chandler, place a bet of only £5 or more (for age verification purposes), and register for the offer before 20th August.

Victor Chandler, Chairman, commented “I wanted to make an offer to the supporters which they could really associate with, and with the cost of Premier League tickets so high, the offer of a free season ticket next season seemed appropriate. It’s a big risk to the business but I made my name taking risks and I have no intention of stopping now!”

If Forest win the Championship Victor Chandler will make a direct payment to the club to cover all the season tickets for those customers who have registered for the scheme.

This sounds like a good offer - for a £5 bet I can potentially win a £500 season ticket.

The best odds I can get is 33/1 so 100/1 looks good to me.
 
Either that or they are confident we wont win the title.

A bit of a silly offer IMO, no way would a company stake a claim like that if they were confident that it wouldnt come off, taking the p**s just a little or am I being a bit too cynical??

A bit cynical mate. It's probably a good marketing ploy - start of the season there will be a fair few talking about this in the pubs and on the terraces. It's for people who sign up and register - it's not like they'll have to fork out for 29,000 season tickets is it?

I think it's a fabulous idea. Lets face it, it only costs a fiver and whilst we're unlikely to get a return (whilst these new signings are great and everything, I can't see us winning the league) it's worth a having a stab. I may be being a little bit nieve seeing as he has made his living as a bookmaker, thus presumably feeding off of people's addictions to make a lot of money in the porcess, but Mr Chandler does seem like a thoroughly decent bloke from what I've read.

Lets be honest, if we win the league, Victor Chandler will absolutely clean up from not having to pay out bets on Newcastle winning the league.
 
Nice publicity stunt.

I think they're fairly confident we won't be winning the league, but that won't stop me sticking a fiver down just in case.
 
If you bet the fiver on us to win the league then it's a double-bonus! :D

We will finish first, second and third, we can easily monopolise this division.
 
I nearly threw up when I first read it. In my excitment I didn't read it properly and thought they were just going to buy everyone a season ticket this year!

Either way, its a fair enough deal. Worth a fiver.
 
Agree its an attractive offer and a clever piece of marketing...win win to all concerned.

1) Club benefits in that it should encourage any waverers to renew their season ticket (or people that buy matches individually to get a season ticket).
2) Fans benefit with free season ticket if promoted.
3) Victor Chandler get the fans on their side straight away and a shed load of accounts opened up (knowing that a fair proportion will like a punt every now and again).

Interesting thing is that apart from the above it may not actually cost them that much money...

They could gamble and underwrite it themselves (for arguments sakes say 16,000 season tickets at average £300 a pop) means they could cough up potentially £4.8m end of next season. Alternatively (and most likely) lay the liability off by placing a bet on Forest getting promoted with another bookmaker to cover themselves. At 33-1 to win league they only need to shell out £145k.
 
could you stick £300 on us not winning the league then and guarantee yourself some free money?
 
Just put a fiver on us winning league @ 30/1.

And a fiver on Billy being manager of month for August @ 16/1, BARGAIN!!

Winning the league is a long shot but you'd kick yourself if you didn't bet a fiver to get a free season ticket!
 
as someone who likes a bet now and then , I think this is spot on , not many on this forum believe we will win the league , but for that kinda return , vc may as well have my fiver sooner than my local ladbrokes.

plus as we are no where near fave's to be promoted , you can guarantee vc will off set their losses .

I am seriously thinking of looking for some good odds on us not to get promoted as well , could well get a bargain next year !!!!!
