Top, top guy. What more is there to say, except that Glasner is the more accomplished manager on paper but Vitor and the club fit like a glove

“Exclusive: Nottingham Forest have terminated Vítor Pereira's contract.

There was a clause allowing them to do so by 30 June. Forest sent an email to Pereira informing him of his departure at 11.58pm last night.

Pereira had already planned for pre-season in Portugal.

As recently as yesterday, the club aligned with Pereira on a pre-season tournament against Udinese and Barcelona in Udine.

And Pereira had recently held a meeting in London on summer plans.

Oliver Glasner set to replace Pereira.”

Yes, from what I understand negotiations have been ongoing for some time and were concluded yesterday, don’t know about the timing but I imagine an email / communication would need to have been drafted, approved by lawyers and then sent.

In a weird way, as harsh as I think it is, it's almost a relief that the break came like this.

He comes across as such a lovely guy, it would have hurt to see him subjected to the inevitable backlash from the fanbase and media if things took a turn for the worse next season.

Rather him leave now with his stock increased and good wishes from the entire fanbase. He might not have deserved the sack - but he deserved to leave on a high.

Feels like a sore one, but then I don’t make a living making tough decisions these days. I’d be too feint hearted for this one, but that doesn’t make it the wrong decision. Moreover, I want what’s best for the club always, and that’s more important to me than the moral high ground, barring the most heinous of events (of which this is not one).

I’ll be getting behind the club. Not trying to tear it or its ownership down.

The sport is very different to what it was 20-30 years ago.

Professionals under stand this which is obvious from Pereira's statement, it just seems fans don't understand how cutthroat this industry is these days.

Smacks of lastminute.com, Glasner became a free agent at midnight. If talks had taken place earlier to line him up and he agreed, why lead Pereira on?

Could have let him know earlier or let him go to Saudi (providing the rumour has any truth to it).

The contract extension deferral seem to suggest something has changed, but seems like the Vitor was oblivious to the reason.

Can't believe some of the comments on here. Spurs and West Ham were on paper far the better teams than us and if it hadn't been for Periera we would be playing second divison football next season.

It isn't the " Championship". It's the f***ing SECOND Division.. The secret is in the name - Second.

This is a disgrace, and Glasner will be on the back foot. Let's all hope he is up for the challenge, but apart from the idea that les boys will want to sign, why change? Pereira was conducting the orchestra to a tight and well oiled symphony, when we were in serious trouble of relegation - when nobody real gave a f*** about the cup, and this is how you measure success?

What a load of shite. We were dead and buried. I was shocked when we sacked Sean but was on board from the off, and Pereira pulled off what, on paper, against a better squad in West Ham, or Spurs, was extremely unlikely.

We should have kept. You are suggesting, like Aina, that we will suddenly be challenging top 4? We should have been consolidating, with a manager who got the vibe, in my opinion.

Anyways, we will likely be down amongst the dead men drowning, as Glasner was with Palace. What will change? Pereira offered positivity and I am not on board with the change.

Keep the manager employed as long as you can because otherwise the one you're lining up isn't a free agent until then and have it all agreed before it's announced so nobody can hijack it.

There probably aren't many managers we would probably want to swap VP for after the way the season ended, especially when EM's MO seems to only be ones out of work. So we get one who has let his deal run down who has been one of the best in the division over the last few years having his club punching way above their level.

Fair enough. with the curse of being born in July, I am sentimental about such matters, but I can't look on this as a huge upgrade. The manager was getting a nice tune out of the team, so why change the conductor?

We are all well impressed by Glasner's achievements. As were Spurs by that other bloke - it doesn't mean a change in our case is warranted, and I don't believe it is.

I, and others, will be absolutely thrilled to be proved wrong.
