Us and Norwich

Presently the battle to avoid the last relegation spot looks to be between ourselves and Norwich.

Looking at both team's fixtures, they'll need to go some to get five more points out of this remaining season, whereas I'd be inclined to have us on a further six or seven, assuming we keep up the standards of today. So, if i'm optimistic, survival.

Your right, I believe we'll have enough come end of the season to stay up with wins against Bristol, Coventry and Southampton being enough we could even beat Blackpool. So I reckon we'll have enough to stay up and Norwich to go down I reckon.

i think the games against Bristol and coventry could go either way the rest I'm sure forest could have easily without anyway slip ups (hopefully)

who have norwich got?

1 or 2 twists to go yet. A lot were saying it was between us and Plymouth beforehand. Blackpool aren't safe yet either.

Seriously, Charlton playing both Blackpool and Norwich is a good thing for us. They could do us a few favours. They were poor today, but played with an absence of fear which made them try things and get stuck in where they may not normally have done.

Barnsley will gain more than 48 points. They have tough games in hand though and it's silly to say their out of it as well.

There will be lots of twists and turns yet.

The good thing for us is that the top of the table is as competitive as the relegation battle and any 2 from the top 6 can go up. All the teams around has have to play top 6 sides and I reckon it could well save us.

I had today as a draw anyway and though both Norwich and Saints would get something so im pleasently surprised althought the Plymouth win was a kick in the nads.

I think that's almost willfully against us.

With seven games to go and averaging a point a game for most of the season we're likely to be ok. We have Coventry to play as a game in hand, and they have nothing left to play for, and by the time we play Plymouth I reckon we'd both be happy with a draw as Plymouth may very well be safe by then too.

I think we could get three points off Sheff United (it's derby so anything could happen), Coventry, Swansea, Watford or Plymouth. I'm not saying we'll beat all of them, but I think we'll beat one of them. I think we'll also pick up some draws - so I feel relatively happy.

I reckon Norwich are in trouble, but I think you'll be alright too hopefully.

I agree with the predicted Coventry and Sheff Utd results, but disagree with the others (for Forest).

We will lose to Bristol City (did you see them tonight?!), draw with Blackpool but we will hammer Southampton last game of the season (they will be down, we will be fighting for our lives).

it's going to be very, very close but we can still get out , i reckon we'll get 2 wins , 1 or 2 draws , and 1 or 2 defeats so either 7 or 8 points which may or may not be enough , still think it's all going to come down to having to beat southampton last day . i just hope we don't go down on goal difference that'd be f***ing shit .

I agree. All we have is optimism, cuz we get nothing from luck. Looking at the league now just makes me think we blew it. And its hard being a fan of many years, but being happy to stay in league 2 is sad.

No matter how well we think we are playing, we are 3rd bottom with 5 games left. And if Brizzle city play as good as they can, they'll batter us.

Ah well... I thing Southends a lovely place.

No no no no no!

Let's not admit defeat when there's still a chance. Imagine the criticism if the players were to think this way. Let's fight to the end and fully support the team and believe in them. They need our support as much as we need the points.

Now is not the time. We need to be confident and instil fear into our opposition whoever they are.

There is no team in this league that we can't get a result from.

That's very true. Although mathematically it's out of your hands, you know for a fact that Norwich are not going to win all their games, nor is anyone else. You're in a position to put a robust run of form together and secure your position in the division. Five games left, you need eight (ish) points. That is very do-able. Get behind them and keep your chins up. A lot of Barnsley fans are exactly the same way - bemoaning the fact that we've effectively relegated ourselves today. It's all a load of bollocks. At this stage of the season, the form book goes out the window and everyone finds out who wants it most.

We normally pick up towards the end of a season, it's nothing new, and I attribute that to the fans suddenly all becoming supportive because the reality of things hits them. And now we've got competition for places in goal and up front, supposed selection problems when four of our loanees are midfielders, where we've already got McLeary, McGugan, Cohen and Perch and Thornhill. Davies was able to stick with a defence who more or less were fine today. Fair play to him, considering where we are, we're looking as well poised going into the last five games as we could be. All the recent arrivals will be a stride further integrated with each match as well - expect us to continue progressing, and hope that it is enough to keep us up.

I wish you were a Forest fan. ;D

Reading Duncan Hamilton's book at the moment and one thing that has really stuck in my mind is the belief of both Clough and Taylor that games can be won before a ball is kicked. We can mentally win games with the right attitude and the rest will follow.

We can do it. We know we can. I've come to the conclusion that the negative amongst us are fearful of disappointment and aim to prepare for it even though there's still a chance, and a bloody good one, that we can survive.

I won't give up unless there's an 'R' next to our name and then I'll still be in denial. :D

I'll let you into a little secret - I've always had a soft spot for Forest because of Cloughie. Now that we've got the business out of the way today - I'm with you all the way. Just hope we're one point ahead of you, that's all ;D

Hey - I have to be harsh on Barnsley when I'm putting in the scores or else I think I'm just going with wishful thinking. I'd like to do it again and put Barnsley down for 21 points, but realistically that's how I think it might pan out.

As we all know, anything can happen and the probability is that there will be a shock result or two before May.

However it ends, a point above 22nd will please me.
