They use rockets to inflate the escape chutes on aeroplanes.
Not just rockets, though, they house them in a big funnel, and the power of the rocket drags in twice as much air from outside as it generates because of the vacuum effect, meaning the chute is filled in a third of the time it would be if it just used compressed gas.
It's really quite marvellous.

Yeah, he is very down to earth about it all. I spent a lot of time in Addenbrooks after an accident and you get surrounded by people milking it. Hammond just tells the tale and moves on.
