Tyson

Against palace on tuesday Tyson looked very dangerous and played a cracking game aswell as scoring a goal. I think Tyson is a great striker he just hasn't been played enough in his prefered position, billy should give him more chances upfront and i really think he will impress.

He can be a threat because of his pace and can 'strike' a ball very well. However, more often than not he runs round like a headless chicken. credit to him though, he got a chance up top and scored a good goal. But with Earnie and Dex he's going to struggle to get a starting role up front at the minute. If we do go up then I cant see him having any chance of playing up top so dont know where he will go from there.

Would be nice to see him get more of a chance in a central role at the end of matches so he can stretch defences with his pace

Tyson used best when he coming on a sub to run at defenders who earnshaw/blackstock having giving the run around for 60-70mins. tyson pace running at the defenders even more,it good.

With newcastle pitch big,i feel boyd will be good to bring on tonight aswell. he got the skill to take on newcastle.

wow someone who agrees with me at last. i have defended tyson against many fellow forest fans who say he doesnt score enough . my argument is that A. he very rarely gets a run in the team. B. on the rare occasion he does play he is stuck out on the wing ,from where he cannot score but has to cross the ball for others to waste. he must be one of the fastest strikers in the league, why can we not use his speed to our advantage .

Tysons like mcleary, in that he tends to make an impact coming on as a sub- but when he starts hes not really much of a threat.

That would suggest he needs more game time to get match fit(training is not the same) in order to last the 90. If they have the football ability to do it in 20 mins then they have the potential to do it over the 90 which I have seen them do.

Tyson's like Macleary in front of goal - i.e. too wasteful normally - otherwise he'd be an automatic first choice.

Tysons always been like that though. Even when hes had patches of starting up front (league 1 and initially under davies) he was never particuarly prolific, or that much of a threat.
In my opionion, I dont think its a fitness thing with tyson- hes just not good enough to be a first choice championship striker.
Hes a great option to bring on due to his speed and what that does over 20 minutes (it pushes the opposition back, and forces them defend and adjust thier tactics), but hes had many chances and never proved hes good enough.
Its not just about lasting the 90, as that would suggest he starts off on fire, which he doesnt.
Just my opinion though:)

Mcleary, I cant think of a single game hes started where hes looked good (admitedly I havent been to away games much, so he could well have done well away).
When he comes on as a sub hes like a different player and looks extremely dangerous. He definitely has potential though, and will hopefully turn into a fantastic player :)

Tyson is not good enough to start games up front whe Earnshaw and Blackstock are fit. Would definitely prefer to see him used up front more than McGoldrick or Adebola though.

how do you know that, he has barely started all season, and when he has started he's always played on the wing. In league 1 he managed to play well if he started, i think we should keep him on the bench for tonight, as it would be an extremely risky choice to start him vs newcastle but we should bring him on for Blackstock/earnie upfront for the last 20 mins. However i think he should be given a start upfront on Saturday vs Bristol city and see how he gets on.

Tyson's another good option and I think he could play up front with Earnie as well if something happened to Dexter. What Tyson offers with his pace, as well as going through on goal, is assists. He is very good at getting down the left channel and putting the ball across the box, as evident in our L1 promotion run, where he set up quite a few of the goals. He's been near the top of the assists charts every season he's been here, which, similarly to Dele, gets quite overlooked because he doesn't score as many tap ins as an Earnshaw or Blackstock.

Ok I know tyson is not that great technically but with that extraordinary pace he is always going to create something. You telling me he cannot do what he does in 20 mins over 90. Why because players are tired? tired or not they will still have a problem containing him. He is good enough as long as he plays on the shoulder of the last man and works on his finishing. Which I believe will get better when he is confident and playing regularly. If he does that he will get 3 chances per game and hopefully take at least one of them.

As for mccleary, yes he may not track back like ando but when your a winger your judged on the chances you create and the crosses you put in first and foremost. He too needs to work on his finishing but I believe it with confidence and match time that will get better. And what I also like about him he can use his weaker foot on a regular basis to shoot or cross. As for not ever being effective when started that is so wrong. He has started 3 games this season: doncaster, brum in fa cup and bradford in lg cup where he played right back. He looked dangerous througout in 2 of those games and got better as the donny game went on.
Last season he was excellent v reading away(ok didn't start but came on for tyson when got injured after 15 mins) preston, ipswich, shef wed home(slide rule pass to for tysons goal). Cardiff at home when he was in team of the week. So either your listening to mcgovern on the radio too much who doesn't always give an accurate report on the way a player is playing(will saythey are having a mare when they have actually been nominated for mom. Or you have never been to a game he starts
I won't go on to mention the numerous times he has come on and changed a game though as I think I have said enough

Not trying to make both these guys out to be world beaters and mccleary is young and far from the finished article but I think regarding mccleary you need to see him on every start before you can make assumptions

cheers

I've been a Tys fan since day one. OK he may not have the best first ouch or bags of skills. But he knows where the net is. Also he will give 100% no matter what.
His main asset is his pace, there is no way many defenders would want him running at them.
