I am undecided on this for the following reason, people who go to the game will be in a better position to me to commnet though

On one hand Smiths confidence must be lower than a rattlesnakes arsehole

However , this will make the fourth loanee in three weeks, now four new players into the team has to have a destabilising effect, they don't know the team, they will take time to gel , mistakes will be made, but do we have any other choice??

hes a farmer.

hopefully he can arrange the crops at the back.............god im bored.

Things must be desperate for Smith if we are loaning in a keeper, I still can't help think that the problem is elsewhere though.

Best of luck to Iain Turner, hope the crowd give him a chance to show what he is capable of.

Compared to the names we were linked with, this is a let down.

As I recall, and I've only seen him play a few times, not the saviour that people are praying for.

Going to keep an open mind, though, as I won't really be able to comment until he's played a couple of games for us.

He's not Paul Smith, though, so in a lot of peoples' minds, he's already a legend.

I've pasted in (badly) his stats off soccerbase, which show he's only ever played 55 games in his entire career, should we be worried that this is considered a better option than Smith?

from wiki 'Iain signed for Sheffield Wednesday on a months loan in February 2007 making his debut at home in the win against Southend United on the February 24, 2007. Prior to Turner signing for Sheffield Wednesday, the club had failed to win in nine games. His arrival at the club sparked an upturn in form[citation needed] and he helped them to avoid defeat in each of the eleven games in which he played during his loan spell.'

Maybe thats what convinced Billy :p

Not seen much of him. Makes me wonder whether the scouts/manager have.

I hope he knows what he's letting himself in for. I wanted a new keeper but not one for the sake of it.

We will see.

If I'm not mistaken, he didn't concede a goal while on loan at Wednesday.

but if you are mistaken, that means he did, such a quandary :p

Turner out!

Hahahaha. You gave me a much needed laugh at an otherwise dismal day at work.

Thanks :)

Very.

Although I hope the concern is misplaced.

Hope it works out for Turner, not seen anything really of him so I can’t say much about it till I see him play (Sat??). Don’t like the fact he hasn’t played competitive football for 2 years, still relatively inexperienced so he will have it all to prove, but seems to have been involved Internationally so must be highly thought of up there in Jockland, plus apparently he did well for Sheff Wed! He needs to settle in very quickly, and improve the confidence in defence, has he got the tools to do that, as I said roll on Sat!

And still pray we get Harewood. IMO they are both the last throw of the dice, will they be good enough to keep us up?

I think this may signal the end of Smith's Forest career. The lad surely can't be happy with being displaced twice by loanees and receiving a lot of stick from his own fans.

Still, if Turner improves our fortunes and helps us to stay up....

I think he'll be solid, but unspectacular. Hopefully the novelty factor of having a new keeper will see our defence become slightly less of a disaster zone.

I tend to agree. If we manage stay up (I believe we will, just) then many fans, rightly or wrongly, will decide that was in spite of Smith and not because of him. By default (unless our defence manages to prevent many shots coming in, ha ha) Turner would've had a positive impact and fans will always give Camp credit for his time here.

Whilst I've always been of the opinion he is a good keeper, a Paul Smith (or any keeper) devoid of confidence and feeling he doesn't have the backing of the manager/fans/club in general is no use unfortunately. If he has any shred of ambition he will be gone in the summer and I'm sure he will do well at another Championship club. BD bringing in a young loan keeper who has barely had any competitive football at all, let alone recently, and putting his faith in him for an absolutely crucial period in the club's history, isn't exactly a vote of confidence in Smith's abilities.

Obviously if he's been brought in to give Smith a kick up the backside and will only be on the bench on Sat, then all of this goes out of the window.

As has been mentioned, if people think Smith is the biggest reason why we've struggled this season, I think they're off the mark.

Seems to be a confident lad from his interview. He's in now, might as well believe in him and back him, I am sure he will do well here.
