Just been listening to Glenn Hoddle on the Overlap. He was saying that England are in the unusual position of having plenty of creative midfielders but not many good holding midfielders. I was naively waiting for Keane to mention Yatesey.

I watched that last night. Really good episode and definitely one of my favourites so far on the Overlap.

You can tell how much Hoddle is widely respected regardless of the Eileen Drury controversy.

Jones has started three PL games and played five and a half hours of PL football. Another example of a player who wouldn't even be looked at if he played outside of the Sky 6.

Same can be said for Lewis who is anonymous every time I've seen him.

What a joke this is, 8 players have withdrawn from the squad for this international break. All but Ramsdale play for the top clubs as well conveniently.

When I heard of the eight withdrawing I felt for sure MGW would get a chance, but not seen his name mentioned. Instead it's the old favourites that are left that get all the attention.

A golden chance for Carsley, who is leaving the post after these games, to try some new names. He can use the excuse that those top players have decimated the squad so he can leave without hurting his reputation, having the difficult choice to shoe-horn players into unfavourable positions or use untried players in their usual positions.

Anderson dropped out of the U21s injured...so would be a bit dodgy if he then joined up with the seniors.
