Tuchel for ENGLAND!

Timothy Pope

I know that Nuno that I know that Nuno that I know
I only just saw that Tuchel had been appointed yesterday.

Could this explain why I awoke yesterday morning dreaming Englnd had won the World Cup?

Shame I took it to Brazil to show it to some school kids there, after which for some reason I put it in a scrap metal lorry thinking no one would notice it and it would be safe. When I went back it though it had been taken and replaced with a television aerial of some sort. I didn't find it before I woke up. 😁
I think you need to check where you got those blue buttons from Nicola 😊

I don't need 'blue buttons' to have weird dreams. They seem to come as standard, especially after eating cheese. :)

P.S. I love my weird dreams (Except perhaps the one 20 odd years ago where a monk was pining me down on an altar with his knees on my shoulders and telling me in a sing-song voice that I should believe. I woke up that day shouting out, "Nothing is real. It's all an illusion!?!?!" Goddness knows what that was all about.) :)

It amazes me that we have a German Royal Family but a German Manager is seen as the Devil

The best one
Owd Farage going off again saying why cant we have an English manager
The f***er was married to a German and has two German kids - Wont even start about the fact that he still has a EU passport.

Why cant Clacton have an MP that is from Clacton

We accepted Georg Friedrich Haendel all those years back... he was good for us

On other note, I wonder why Tuchel took the job. Plenty of top club opportunities available to him, I'd have thought. Maybe he fancied a change. Or maybe it was the only way to avoid ending up at Old Trafford.

I can't wait for Lee Anderson to come out with a stupid, grifting statement about not supporting England at the next World Cup because Tuchel's German.

It's almost inevitable.

Once he has found a grown up to write it for him, it will be done.

I think he's genuinely a fan of the English game and wanted a job in England

Plus it's one of the biggest jobs in football and there's the attraction of the squad of quality players he'll get to work with

There is a World Cup in 18 months, he will be managing one of the ten or so teams with a chance to win it, winning a World Cup is something very few managers have done, who wouldn't choose that over taking the Man U job, getting loads of abuse for finishing fifth, then getting the sack after two years?

He is a massive Anglophile, speaks the language fluently, is a great student of football tactics and history, and prefers teams where he can be left alone to do proper coaching.

He did say since leaving Bayern, that he wasn‘t interested in a Bundesliga job (because once you have had Bayern, well…) so a job in England was always where I thought he might end up. I have to admit, with the rumours that Guardiola might be off in the summer, I did have some thought that Tuchel might have fancied that gig, but clearly the lure of international management seems a better fit for him at the moment.

Yep, and as someone on these pages mentioned the other day (think it may have been Rzar) his abilities as a tactician make him perfectly suited to tournament football

A very exciting appointment

If we win the world cup I'll be happy. But I'll be a bit less happy than otherwise because I'll know that we got over the line just by buying the best manager.

At chance of a summary for those of us that don’t subscribe to the athletic?
When we were shit, we didn't have any players in the England squad, now we are a bit better, we might have some England players.

That's kind of how I feel. If we win with a German manager it would be better than not winning, but it would feel like a joint England/Germany victory. The euphoria for me wouldn't be anything like if it were a purely English victory.

Maybe if we do win the next World Cup England and Germany will each get half a star on their shirts....
