Well, it definitely looks like semi-finals are firmly in the past.
Historically we have always struggled to get past a semi, often lacking penetration strategies against stubborn defences.

I liked Southgate but it was definitely time for a change. He was a very lucky manager at times which isn't a bad thing but when it really mattered he was constantly found wanting.

Just because Tuchel is proving to be completely clueless it doesn't mean Southgate was some managerial genius either.

Overheard in the England changing room aftr the match:

"Morgan why did you keep making those energetic forward runs, why do you pass the ball quickly, and generally not sidewatys, and why did you fail to stand 2 yards to my left because it meant I only had one sideways option instead of 2?

If Tuchel remains in post I doubt we will even qualify for whatever tournament it is that we are lookng to make progress in.

It was difficult enough to invest into Southgate at times, often putting the brakes on anything remotely looking like flair, but the players bought into that. Don’t want to pass judgement so early on the fella but not having leaders on the pitch will cost him. MGW proved a point though

Tuchel's now saying in public his mother is repulsed by Bellingham. As he's defending Bellingham to her.

Way to alienate a key player or get him on your side. I don't know how that's going to go.

I just think he's not got the trust of the players yet. As Roy Keane says, they don't look happy.

He's testing them hard and they've been used to being cuddled by Southgate. It's a different environment at international level. You can push players in club football constantly but in international football, you meet up now and again so you need to find a balance.
