Transfer struggle

Just thinking a possible end to this transfer window is we sign nobody. We all want Billy's jigsaw puzzle to get finished, and those round pegs in round holes. But we might well be stuck with what we've got.

Will we be okay? I'm thinking if we can push on to mid table, we'll be in a stronger position with signings in January, and next summer.

A better league position will help bringing players in, but will be able to get ourselves one with the quality we've got in defence, and the lack of depth there?

Well for me, a back four of Gunter, Morgan, Chambo and Lynch, whilst not ideal, is certainly more solid than one with Cohen looking lost at left-back. Lynch, whilst some people suggest is a natural centre-back seems to have better attributes for playing full-back. Let's not forget that this 'first-choice' back four kept a highly-rated Reading side at bay on the open day.

What we really need is the likes of Wilson, once he returns to fitness to up his game and start turning some of the potential which he clearly has into performances on the pitch at this level. That really would be 'as good as a new signing', as he could cover any position across the back four.

Stuck with what we have and we'll see a repeat of last season. Struggling near the relegation zone. For all our attacking options , we are clearly unbalanced as a team.

I like Lynch as a CB if I'm honest so i would like to see him play there a lot more.

If I'm wrong and he turns out w**k then whats wrong with rotating Chambo and Wilson in that position? And if that goes wrong theres always January to look forward to :)

So i would like to see uncle Billy get a Natural LB but the thing is i cant even think of any who i can think of any who are available. (The Bale thing is a load of tosh)

For me, certainly against Watford, he lost too much in the air to be a permanent centre-back...

As well as two of the goals coming from his s**t defending.

Couldn't agree more. For the 4tgh goal he got turned inside out and could have just put a foot in to tackle! Saying that though, I don't rate his as a LB either. Takes an extra touch when not needed and doesn't take a touch when it is needed!

Are you ignoring the fact Morgan clearly made no challenge or attempt to block the shot from the scorer? It was embarrassing. Camp rightly had a go at him for it.

People only see what they want to see. Wes is a hero, Camp/Gunter are untouchable, Cohen is not really a left back, so it must have been Lynch's fault because if he hadn't have made his error, then the others wouldn't have made theirs.

Frankly, I blame Joels Dad. If he had bought young Joel a cricket bat instead of a football at the age of 6, we would be 15 times European Champions by now.

Or that if Lynch hadn't have made his error Watford wouldn't have got as far as Wes anyway.

Dont agree. Gunter has been very poor in the 2 matches ive seen so far v albion and watford, while arguably camp could have done better with at least one of the goals v watford. Nobody should be untouchable in this team, everybody has to earn the right to wear the shirt. We are not a Man U/Chelsea after all, where maybe you might have some untouchables like Terry/Rooney.

Even though I feel that our defence is nothing like good enough, including Wes (the untouchable), the problem against5 Watford on Tuesday was (IMHO) the midfield. Not enough 'real' midfielders. Only McKenna (once McGugan went off) and the others playing there were really wingers (Ando, Tys and the 'jew). Things might get better when we get a defender back and then we can release Cohen back to where he looks good. Ideally, we need to sign someone at CB - preferably someone who can win the ball in the air (every time).

The old adage "We'll score more than you" only holds good if you can usually stop the oppos scoring more than about 8 per game.....
