We don't need another central midfielder if we tie up Osbourne from Villa, let's not forget that if we get Ando, Cohen will finally be able to play in his rightful position of central midfielder!
I think it'd be a good deal. Although he wouldn't be the sort of champagne signing we've been hoping for, he'd add experience and know-how to our midfield and would help some of the younger guys mature at this level.
He's been a consistent performer in the right half of the table and Billy obviously knows him well - could turn out to be a shrewd bit of business if we pull it off.
Glad to see it confirmed (if you can call it that in the NEP) that we're still in for Dexter and Gunter too.
Aah silly season is in full bloom I see. For me, BD is the man. He kept us up, he will move us forward. If he rates McKenna so be it. Fact is we need a leader in the middle of the park with experience and drive. If he thinks that is McKenna at least for a season then so be it.
He's proven, experienced and has played in some top CCC teams. We've got enough young, potentially very good central midfielders at the club, a bit of balance would be nice. He'd probably make a half decent captain as well and it's not like he's totally over the hill, he started 50 games last season.
I get the impression that Osbourne has some sort of future at the Villa.
I still don't like the idea of Adebola but to say the prospect of signing Lynch, Mills, Blackstock, Gunter and McKenna "isn't good news" is utterly barmy.
I'm with Baggio. We've essentially got a squad that's absolutely brimming with young talented players, but now Breckin has gone we don't have many old heads at all. As long as we can avoid another Andy Cole/Neil Lennon then our squad will benefit from adding old heads.
As long as he dosen't come on huge wages (which lets face it, being at preston he shouldn't do) he could be a useful acquisition, especially in a position where we have been crying out for an old head at times this season.
Then I am not too fussed. Either way, it's not a transfer that particularly inspires mass confidence, especially if the Adebola rumour is true. However, we have to trust in Davies that he knows what he is doing.
I remember being underwhelmed at the news we were signing Nicky Southall but he turned out to be a very shrewd signing at the time. BD knows McKenna well so I hope that he would prove to be an equally shrewd signing.
McKenna should be a good signing we need older players with a goodchampionship pedegree, so really you can'tget anyone better than McKenna. Every team needs a tough tackler which we missed most of last season plus he can score long rangers so even better.
Our last one was probably Paul Evans (those really were dark days!), would have said Lennon but seeing as his legs wouldn't move he barely got near a tough challenge...
