Train to Cardiff

Anyone getting the train to Cardiff on Saturday?

Not sure if I am going yet but if I do then the train would be my preferred form of travel. I wondered if the ground is easy to get to from the station and whether others are getting the train.

Not sure I fancy trekking across Cardif on my own!

I'm getting the train from Bristol.

Train-wise, you can get a local train from Cardiff Central to Grangetown station which is then about a minute's walk from the ground. Dead easy and I've not had to pay for that part of the journey in either of my two visits there.

I'm getting the train from London which takes about 3hrs direct from Paddington.

It's pretty expensive though, we booked two singles about 10days ago and it was £33.50 back then.

Anyone know where the best place to drink before the game is?

2 hrs 10 from Paddington :-* (I should know, I spend enough time on the bloody thing).

Train station is about 15 mins walk from the ground, not sure I'd bother changing onto a local train unless I was feeling particularly lazy as you could probably walk it before your connection arrived.

As for drinking places, city centre is safest bet. No 'away pubs' and wouldn't want to risk any of the pubs closest to the ground due to the friendly nature of the locals. Failing that, you could all come to mine as I'm only 10 minutes walk from the stadium! (That's a joke by the way, don't fancy providing beer for hundreds of thirsty Trickies!)

Oi, I'm not impressed you've jumped on this band wagon as well Mr Austin!

My train leaves at 9:15 from Paddington and gets into Cardiff at something like 12:10 - I must be booked on a slow one!

Bollocks. I've be so pre-occupied with sorting out stuff for my mates wedding on Friday, I didn't even note who we were playing at the weekend.

The wedding is about 30 miles from Cardiff. :wall:

Get Cardiff Station on a map, and get it so you can see Ninian Park and the station, with Ninian in the far left and the station dead centre. Now imagine a line directly vertical through the station. Everything west of this is a pub you might be fine in, and might not. Wetherspoons pubs near the station area, brewery quarter, that sort of thing - casuals will lock onto you there and damage you later. Head east for drinks if you've time. Or get train to Grangetown station. I'll rate a couple of pubs later in the week.

Listening to this game tonight I'm fairly certan we'll lose so it might be a good idea not to come at all :/
