Anybody else think that it's Goodnight from Newcastle and West Brom, the momentums gathered and already the gap is around the ten point mark,

Is this the highest position we'll see Forest this year?

Surely we cant mount an assault on Automatic..............

Got to say that's biting off more than you can suck, let alone chew.

I do agree however that there is that small chance we'll be assaulting the playoff places come the end of this season though.

Just keep winning.

Look at it again in late April.

They may lose players to Premiership clubs in January. Dare I say it - this season we may even strengthen with Premiership players!

Thats a good point, any reported interest in any of their players?

Its a marathon not a sprint....

If we can take 6 points or even 4 from the top two when we play them then anything can happen.

Was it wolves or west brom who collapsed a few seasons back? one of them was somthing like 12 points clear with 5 games to go, and lost it.

So you never know.

it is hard to see anyone catching them at the minute but we still have a long way to go and they have to play all the top teams again so we shall see

Don't see any reason why we cannot push for automatic, 8 points isn't a massive lead at this stage of the season (as we discovered in 06/07!)

remember we spanked west brom early on too and still lost. that could be us in their position. I think we definitely have the squad to go up now so it's just a case of keeping it all going.

fingers crossed nolan gets pinched off the mags in jan because without him they are pretty average. also remember we spanked them too good and proper in the first half at the city ground.

Exactly, all we can do at the moment is keep winning and drawing games to keep ourselves within spitting distance. Remember 2 seasons ago, we were something like 12 points behind carlisle and donny with 7 games to go and they both burned out causing us to leapfrog them into the championship, so its not impossible. Its too early to make any sort of judgement, so lets just see what happens the next few months.

We didn't really deserve to beat either of those and shouldn't assume they should have been wins anyway.

League's still wide open. Newcastle is a daft club, anything could happen up there yet. Baggies are more likely to be consistent, I think, and we nearly did for them already. Those two will take points off one another, and we've got a pop at each of them to come.

If we're going to worry about these two at all though, we need to be justifying doing so by turning Leicester over. If we fail to do that with Billy's 'selection problem' of returning top players, we can shut the f*** up about Newcastle.

8 points is nothing at this stage really. Those 4 draws we had until now stopped our momentum up the league. Lets face it, if any team in the top 10 went on a winning run of lets say 5 or 6 straight then they'd be right up there with the top 2. It's only November!

It's scary how open this league is still ! Although I still think we haven't seen the best from Forest !

Eh? I'm not saying we deserved to, I'm judging it based on the balance of play, and the facted we created far more chances than either of them in both games. We should have put our chances away but didn't, that's our own fault.

In fact I was surprised how little Bristol seemed to have improved, because they've been a very good team the last few years. And sorry if I'm being arrogant, but Blackpool were just shite. A typical one shot, one goal, defend performance, but we still missed an abundance of chances to comfortably win a couple of games!

That's the kind of consistancy you need to challenge for a title. You can't create 8-10 good chances and not take 1. Same with the West Brom games as Winnits poitned out...

That is the main danger for both of them of course. It is still early days but yes, if I was a betting man I would put my cash on Newcastle and West Brom for automatic.

It will take a herculean effort for Forest to make the play-offs this year but we have just as much chance as the other 7-8 teams vying for a top 6 place.

The next month or so is crucial; Leicester, the Blades, Swansea, Preston, etc. We will need to work bloody hard to get the requisite amount of points from these games.

Still, it's f***ing brilliant to be even talking about promotion back to the Premier League again.

Assuming victories before those matches would've been arrogant.

Saying we deserved to beat both after watching 180 mins of football (combined), is not misguided at all, Bristol City especially. A break-away goal from Charlie Adam and an injury-time equaliser is the only things separating us from only being 4 points off an automatic promotion spot...after only avoiding relegation on the penultimate weekend of last season.

Spin or otherwise, them are the facts.

Agreed, there is nothing arrogant about making a judgement based on the post-match facts of the two games in question - we were the better side in both games. You don't always get what you deserve of course but if that were the case, we would have won both.

Even Holloway admitted that Blackpool got away with murder.
