Too many games ... but strong squad to Villa?

To be fair, that i itself suggests they won't have to play 90 minutes. I don't see a problem with the friendly, I doubt Billy is stupid enough to wear players out in a friendly 4 days before a league match. I'd be surprised if anyone played 90 minutes (any starter on saturday anyway) except maybe the keeper. And probably not even the keeper because he may test out Smith like he has in the cup.

Exactly - to me, "squad members" implies to me it will be the lads who haven't had much first team action.

Lads like Mitchell & Fairclough for example.

Oh,

All the players in the first team including starters are squad members of the first team... :p

I have no idea what you're trying to say here.

I assume you mean that if someone has started a game that they are a member of the Squad?

Yes, this is true.

However, if you were talking about say Lescott in the in England squad you'd call him just a 'squad player.'

Do you see? It's all in how you read it?

Now run along and ring Billy and get the full low down.

I would imagine it's rolling subs and three and in.

Do we have a big enough squad to not play any first team players in these matches?

:D A very valid point.

I think we have about 16 fit players right now so not really spoilt for choice. I expect this will be treated very much like an extended training session with a little friendly competitive banter. Great to see Moussi and Lynch back. ;D

Yeah, that's the up side to all this.

I'm sure Billy knows what he's doing like, it just struck me as a bit odd when I read that last night. I'd heard several people make the point that him moaning about the amount of games at this stage of the season was a surprise ... because the season's only just begun.

Anyway, we've got no reserves now, so these games will keep cropping up to get injured players back to fitness.
