tonsilitis

tonsilitis is an absolute bitch and depending on the severity we might lose wes for up to two weeks or more. i have had it twice, once when i was doing my gcses and once when i was 19 and i missed nearly two weeks of school and one week of work (and i would have taken more time off, but at that point i was only on a casual contract and needed all the hours i could get!) consecutively, but i wasn't returning to play professional sport! (on the other hand, i wasn't a professional sportsman)

if we rush him back there's a chance he could be f**ked for a long while. he needs A LOT of rest. the first time i had it even though i was well enough for school i still wasn't 'right' for a while. the second time i was exhausted for nearly a month and a half afterwards.

i don't want to panic anyone, but it's not a good idea to rush him back into the team.

if you're reading this wes, i recommend gargling warm salty water and taking paracetamol and strepsils!!!

It can definitely be a lot milder than that. My g/f has had tonsilitis several times and I don't remember her even missing a day from work. I've had it once though and I was off for a week! Of course this may just show the difference in pain tolerence between men and women....or perhaps how much we like our respective jobs!

Poor old Westley, I hope it didn't ruin his Christmas.

He'll definitely be missed, so let's all hope he gets well soon.

beg to differ I have had it 11 times to date I have been told I should have them removed but the operation for adults is a bastard (well the recovery is dry toast and crisps as soon as you come round) so I have always wimped out of seeing the consultant, the doctor has threatned he wount prescribe me antibiotics again if I dont at least consider having them removed.

The medical staff are not stupid they will give Wes the right medication to speed up the rate of recovery,As long as the medicine is approved by the appropriate parties, don't want Wes copping a drug ban.

Wiki says - "Sometimes, tonsillitis is caused by a infection of spirochaeta and treponema, in this case called Vincent's angina or Plaut-Vincent angina."

If the members of this forum can't make something funny out of, Vincent Angina....then i'm off to support the sheep

I think if anything , this does highlight the need to buy another central defender in the transfer window. We need better cover than the likes of Chambers , Lynch & Perch.

I always got tonsilitis and glandular fever as a kid until I had my tonsils removed.

Didnt Michael Dawson get tonsilitis when he was here?

i had a tonsilectimy when i was 28 and it was terrible ! i felt really, really ill for nearly two weeks afterwards and lethargic for about 6 weeks , if i'd have known how bad it was i wouldn't have had the surgery and would have put up with a bout of tonsilitis every few years , it was agony to even try and sip water for days after the operation ,definitely not recommended for adults , wish i'd had it done as a kid as kids are generally fine within a day or two .
