The issue is now coming to a head whereby Billy Davies can not do the job he was brought in to do. There were many sceptics about when he first arrived but he has since won almost everyone over in the way he has transformed a relegation side into a potentially Premier League side.

Why is this panel 'the be all and end all' when it comes to transfers? What is the difference in Billy identifying the players he needs and then running them past Doughty for a 'yes or no' answer?

There is a serious undermining of Billy Davies at the moment and I for one don't know how long he will stand for it - he's done a fantastic job thus far with only a percentage of the tools he requires.

We certainly have the best manager in this league and if we miss out on promotion (after coming this far) I will personally be laying the blame with the farts that sit on this ridiculous panel.

We all know where our weakness lies on the pitch and Davies identified these way back in October - he made is recommendations for January and for whatever reasons we was left wanting (again).

Yes, we have had a great season so far but how much better could it be if we could only plug those 2 or 3 gaps? And this is why I say that "this stupid Panel of ours should be dismantled if we have any ambitions". The manager has ambition - The supporters have ambition but we are not being shown any in return from Marthur/Pleat & Co. Everything has to go through these jerks at less than a snails pace.

I'm sure there are plenty of managers in this league who wish they had the same resources (£5m this season) and freedom to bring in players that Billy Davies does.

To be honest, if we don't go up, I'll blame the players.

But even then, I won't lay too much blame on them as they've far exceeded my expectations this season and I'm sure next season will be even better.

You only have to look at Portsmouth to see how a poorly run transfer system over the years has ruined their club - and indeed how ours was nearly ruined by giving Platt a blank chequebook and a squad list from Serie B.

Before we turn this into yet another slanging match, I am inclined to think that the panel has let us down of late. During the summer, it works just fine as you have time to sort out deals and look for players, but it clearly does not work during the Jan window and it is also not working during the loan window. Generally speaking, carrying out this level of due dilligence is, well, very dilligent! But I can't help thinking that we need a different approach when working within the confines of the January window.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the players are looking very jaded and tired now and what would happen if Gunter/Earnie picked up an injury in mid-week? We would be in sorts of trouble and would then be rushed into making the sort of panic signings that we are trying to avoid. We must get players in, before the (inevitable) injuries start coming.

Billy Davies is an integral part of the Transfer Panel.

He is there when it agrees its targets. He is there when it agrees their max price for the Targets. He is there when it agrees the strategys for getting those targets. He is there whenever it meets so he knows the progress of events.

He is not an outsider to the process.

Can't argue with your work these last few summers. It's a bit it frustrating (although understandable) that you don't seem able to repeat it during the January window. Any chance you could resolve these issues for next year if possible? Even better, you could perhaps land two or three loanees to help us over the line like you did last year?
