Time to shine or ship out

No permanent signings, maybe no loan deals. Will the long term "kids" get a chance and more important, be a success. It's could be their big chance to shine, it should be their time to shine and grab a chance as they are no longer babies. If they fail, why keep them?

I quite like Thornhill. Reminds me of an old style Forest player. Good touch, decent passer, weighs in with the odd goal. Hardly set the world alight on loan last season though by all accounts and probably not good enough for the CCC. But needs must and we need competition for places as it's no good having a set in stone first 11. Lets hope some of the younger/fringe players can show some fight. Starting with McGugan. He came on and showed some useful touches on saturday but how many chances does the lad need?

Agree there mate. I like Thornhill, like you said abit of an old skool Forest player, ala Neil Webb, only slimmer!
Would love it to work out at the Reds for the lad.

It's all well and good but fact is Billy won't play the kids unless there is literally no other option.

If we have 11 "senior" players on the pitch, they'll play, regardless of whether or not they've played 9 games in 2 weeks and all are carrying knocks.

It does seem to go that way. I suppose he gave McGugan a couple of chances though, its down to him to be good enough to force Billy's hand. I suppose the odd bit is, how bad do the experienced/first choice ones have to be to mean the youngsters can't be any worse?! lol

I'm not sure it's down to how 'bad' the first teamers are. I honestly think that Billy simply has no trust in youth, no matter how much potential they may have. Thornhill has looked decent each time he plays for us, but he's never been given a chance in the league. He only gets to play in meaningless friendlies and cup games.
