Time for us to get inventive?

( Hey guys - just registered... )

I think it's time for us to get more inventive with Forest chants. I hate to say it but we only have a few songs we sing that I'm proud of - when many years back it seemed we had a wider range.

The support to the boys towards the end of this season was brilliant, a credit to the club, and I think with an incentive to get a new breed of songs into the stands would only be a positive to what could be a good season next season.

Be it word of mouth, of forum, or just one brave soul starting the chant at a home/away game, it would be excellent for this new 'era' for Forest & Billy to have a new 'era' and batch of chants.

I've emailed the club about the possibility of a page or two in the club programme, every home game, where the best 10 (or best few) chants are printed. This would give an incentive for it to be sung - and could lead to this whole concept proving successful.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, and would love for you to post your chant suggestions to this thread as well, as there's no better time to start than Sunday.

Welcome Dawg, admire the enthusiasm, but tend to rely on the spur of the moment chants, rather than orchestrated responses.

Quality idea don't know if this will take off, i do remember a song that someone re-wrote to an fc united song off youtube that i thought was quality and would like to get used the problem is getting things like this known to a wider audience, cant remember the thread though i think it may hav bee roud the time of one of the derby games

I agree, as that will always happen in the stands - I'm just thinking another way of doing it wouldn't hurt anybody. You can still make chants up there and then, just there will be the chance of many more new ones being sung.

My friends and I try and come up with chants all the time but the problem is is that the old ones are the best ones in our opinion.

Chants can take off. Earnshaw has a couple and everyone latched onto the Commons one. They just have to be good.

What a stupid thing to say to someone posting for the first time.

New people need to be encouraged, not put down.

Who are you? What gives you the right to speak to someone like that? Calling a complete stranger kid, as if you are absolutely certain you are twenty years older than they are.

That was me :D and i think it was about the time of one of the derby matches.

Thing is, as many people have said, it is difficult to get new chants going unless theres about 5 of you starting, and it would then have to be easy enough, and good enough, for those around to catch on and keep it going.

How can we get this sorted?!

P.S Some of the old ones are the best though. I remember when i was younger absolutely loving some of the chants that used to pop up during the 90s

I also agree with you,

I hate to admit it but sometimes I am jealous of the chants of other teams (particularly United) and wish we could come up with some more inventive banter.

People are saying that the old ones are the best, but they hardly get sung, its just recylcled chants of "Nottingham, Nottingham, Nottingham" and "You REDS"

Its like I said in the other thread about where the best area's of the ground to sit are, with a little organisation and planning we could change subtle things about the club, such as singing area's, bulking the vocal ones together, and make more chants too. It'll take a core of people commited to it but it is achievable.
