Tijjani Reijnders

I've seen some posts that we have dropped out of signing Bergvall completely to solely go after Tony Reindeer

If it’s 55 mill than that is daft in my humble opinion. We need players with resale value a club in our financial position. I’ve got no problem with experienced players but 30 mill or less for me.

To be fair, Timmy Reindeer is that good. I imagine even at 50 plus million we would be looking back on it as a bargain in the current market. He’s a proper player.

We can't always opt for resale value though Emmo. There are going to be occasions when need for the here and now. An experienced player of 28 years old at less than £30M is probably going to be bobbins..

Maybe that's what they want Spurs to believe? Alternatively I'd be happy with either, one oven ready quality and one with huge potential
Edit I was quoting Notcher by the way but ballsed it up

Sometimes it's fine to buy someone because they are good and will improve the team in the here and now. Not every signing has to be an investment for the future.
We signed Wood who probably wouldn't have much resale value and I dread to think where we would be without his goals.

Some players are too good to turn down if the opportunity arises. Reijnders would improve the squad of any PL club.

resale value has to be our target as a club but some of the best signings we’ve made in recent years haven’t had that value. Boly,Sels,Wood,Felipe. I also get that lots of them were pretty cheap but,if we were to get him and for five years he scores 10 goals a season including the one that wins us a trophy then job done !!

I still maintain that Serge Aurier is the most important signing we've made since we were promoted. Totally changed the team mentality as soon as he joined. Absolutely genius signing.

The only reason I didn’t put him down was because he was a free transfer ! Wasn’t sure when he signed but was gutted by the time he left ! Brilliant player !

Was the Bergvall chase before the "4 hour recruitment meeting" or after? I can't be bothered to check, but maybe Bergvall was Syrianos' top target but Glasner wants Reijnders?

Serge went to war for us!

To say that man took no shit is an understatement.
One of my favourite individual performances was when we were getting thumped at Leicester & Serge came on a half time for his debut. He just changed the mentality of the team, a real "this isn't acceptable" style performance.

Serge was a massive breath of fresh air, all the rubbish talked about him prior to joining, he was pretty much the opposite of everything we were told - he was a true leader & as soon as he started playing in the team we were way more streetwise and mature. You also can't tell me Neco didn't learn loads from him.

Notch youre an accountant arent you? Not trying to be rude but sorry if I am telling you how to suck eggs. Just a team like ours for example if we gave Reinders a 4 year contract wed lose 13.75 mill per year on his value on the books and there is no way we are selling him for more than 15 mill in my opinion. Were probably better off with Bergval at 50 mill even though I think thats too much. But I get your point but I just dont thinlk we are club who can make transfers like that.

Here's an idea though Emmo - instead of thinking any player is just a money pit lets think this is a top player who could be key to us climbing the table and earning more money through our finishing spot, maybe winning a trophy and possibly getting back into Europe, in which case he more than pays for himself.

Insolvency practitioner, but close enough.

It's not as straight line as that though Emmo. You have to remember that PL places equals prize money as does advancement in cup competitions and also the potential of European qualification.

I agree this can't be the norm for a club like ours but a player like Reijnders in the here and now could be transformational to our midfield and season as a whole.

We can afford to buy players with no resale value when we have Gibbs White and Murillo under contract and hopefully Williams soon as well. Each one of them could be sold for a lot of money if we are in need of balancing the books.
