I know that just because a player fails elsewhere doesn’t means he’ll fail for us but their comments sound similar to the failings we’ve seen in Mcatee and worry me.

I just think there’s a bit of a squad overhaul going on at City, new manager changing things up a bit. Sounds like Savinho, Rodri also being cashed in on.

City now after Pedro Neto, who I would imagine will cost a fortune. Wouldn’t surprise me if they went for Enzo Fernandez too.
 
Gosh I'm incredibly excited about this. This one is a nailed on certainty and once we have him in the team we will sweep all before us and become the most successful team that the world has ever seen. We will lead a breakaway of the biggest clubs in the land to form a European Super League which we will win for the first 10 seasons of it's existence. Oliver Glasner will be lauded by the entire country and be made King. Every member of the Forest Forum will be knighted and be given the freedom of Nottingham and have blue plaques erected on their houses.

So ... that should keep all the happy clappers content.

In the real world ... not happening ... too expensive.

Glasner must have seen enough from the group to be convinced we have that depth from players with those defensive qualities.

Clearly this lad is much older that Bergvall, but chances are the fee we’ll need to pay is more realistically aligned to his value, Bergvall is going to be a massive overpay at £60m, if he does actually move on.

So on balance, let’s get the cash on the table, it’ll be obvious how City want to play this given the Ando negotiations so let’s cut through the posturing and go all in.
 
One thing we should expect from a Pep signing, is the players ability to operate under pressure in tight areas. Perfect for Galsners approach whcih is quick progression. Add to that his ability to find space in the last third and he could be the answer to one or two key issues we might have with the current set-up.
 
Opposite opinion from supporters on the Manchester City subreddit. They want to see him given a chance under Maresca / feel it's too early to give up on him. Cite Rodri hardly pulling up trees in his first season.

Wish we'd sign just one of our targets because I'm sick of rumours, journalist and agent games now.
 
Looking at his time at AC Milan, Reijnders played on the left side of the two midfielders. That’s exactly where Anderson played for us. Looking at his profile at Milan compared to City it looks like City profiled him wrong.
 
Initially I worried about the sell on for a midfielder on the cusp of his 30s, but these guys are so professional in their fitness they can go on in midfield until 33/34ish before they rapidly drop off. With how disposable football clubs and their players have become, there's no reason we can't make a profit on him next season or after against one of the clubs PSR doesn't affect.

Can't say I've ever noticed him however so don't know his style of play, but glad to read he isn't a ball retrieving midfielder like Ando was, we need a partner to complement ball recovering Sangare.

He's not really on the cusp of his 30s, he's only just turned 28 a week ago so he'll still be in his 20s at the end of the 27/28 season.

Think it’s probably more to fund Ando and Bouaddi for 100m+
 
Just watching football transfers and they are tailking about Reijnders and all agree he would be a good signing BUT why would he want to come to Forest and also there would be lots of European clubs in for him. Go get him Forest
 
If OG gets the 3 or 4 transfers he apparently wants, might our first team look something like this?

Yeah I think the reality is the biggest change we will have to make is upping the wage budget, I hope that the Ando money helps do that for certain top players that we believe are going to push us on.

If D-Lap comes here, I very much think he's going to be a backup option, and Wood will still be very much the first choice forward with Jesus second.

I feel like there is a lot to like about Reijnders. The first thing that jumps out at me, is that he is interested in coming here for first team football. He's got 4 years left on his deal at City, how many players do you think in his situation would just say f*** it and sit on the bench at City collecting a packet?

While it's fair to say he didn't capture lightning in a bottle at City, he still played 28 times in the league for them last year and it's City, Pep has very high standards and their midfield depth is substantial and with it being his first season in English football, I think he did okay.

While he doesn't win the ball back as much as Anderson did, the gravy with Reijnders is that he's box to box and can play balls into dangerous areas. He's very good at keeping the ball as well, which for a team like us would be critical. He can also play as a 6, an 8 or a 10.

It would be a statement of intent, for sure.

Fully agree.
To move to the next recruitment level - unfortunately we have to move to the next cost level as well.
We wont get much change out of £30m for a defender, £40m for a midfielder & £50m for a forward.
That is where we now sit - don't knock it - revel in it.

Both things can still be true I suppose! As an arguement for this not being totally unrealistic... Glasner is the biggest outlay on a manager Marinakis has ever spent at any of his clubs, probably by some distance as well and he does tend to back them if he believes in them. If, emphasis on the if, Reijnders is Glanser's top pick it wouldn't be overly surprising to see EM go above and beyond to get it done.

The other thing in the back of my mind is the scenario where the club have seen people getting impatient on socials regarding lack of transfers and they've leaked Reijnders, who isn't an actual target, because they know everyone will work out that he can't be signed for another 10+ days because of the SCR swap rules (which they have), keeps supporters off their backs for a few more days while they scramble about looking for actual targets.
